Werebear examines the statues further. He finds that the cleric statue is indeed touching the water. He also finds a piece of rope crystallized, touching the water, and a piece of drape, lying on top of Pika's ratty foot. Upon examining the bard statue, he finds that the lute is part of the crystalline structure and he will not be able to remove it without some sort of chiseling implement.

I examine the gate without getting too close.

Do we press on, or go explore the other halls and wait for the rest to wake up?

The gate is made of the bones of some huge beast arranged in a crossed sort of pattern, allowing you to see through between the bones. It appears to be attached to a line on the other side which would allow it to be raised on pulleys. If two or three of you got together and tried to lift it you probably could.

We immediately back off and return back to the original room. The whole group thinks there are dragons are there because of the colors on the drape and the doors.
Chromatic colors = bad dragons
Metallic colors = good dragons

I cover the parties rear as we fall back.

"I was being told about dragon colors, and how metallic colored dragons are good, and the others are bad. Well, we have a big gate made out of the bones of a large animal, and a big arena. Now look at the color of the drapes that cover the arches.

If you haven't seen it already, we may have a dragon problem."

DPW and SaberKitty go through the left archway. The hall beyond goes about ten feet before turning to the left. They turn the corner to find a dead end. At the end of the left hall is a bizarre looking device. It appears to be... a vending machine?

The vending machine has two rows of buttons and a coin slot, as well as an opening on the bottom where a product would be dispensed. The first row of buttons is composed of four large buttons - one is marked with a red triangle, which is point up, the next is marked with a blue triangle, which is pointed down; the third is marked with a yellow, point-up triangle divided in half with a black line, and the fourth is marked with a green point-down triangle divided with a black line. The second row of buttons has a button marked with each number 1-9.

Mudster spends some time fiddling with the lock on the gold door. Eventually, he hears a *click* from within as the lock's mechanism tumbles. He sits back on his heels and exhales sharply.

The gold door is unlocked.

Mudster stands up and opens the gold door - it swings out into the hall without incident. Mudster peers intently into the space revealed - it is an unadorned hallway that goes a short way south before turning to the left. From down the hall, he hears an odd humming sound.

SaberKitty and I decide not to play with the vending machine right now, and head back to the fountain room to see mudster listening at the door. We wait until he's done, then join the others.

SaberKitty walks through the fountain room to the gold door. She sniffs the air delicately near the door. "Hmmm.. smells like electricity...how odd"

Neo moves through the arch covered by the blue drape. He sees a short hallway that turns almost immediately to the right. About ten feet from the turn, the hall dead-ends. Against the wall at the end of the hall are two longswords in reasonably good condition, a large metal shield, and a small wooden box.

Neo looks first at the swords - they are well-made, but unornamented. They look as if they have been cleaned and oiled recently. The shield is a large round metal shield with a 2-headed lion device painted on it in gold and green. It looks slightly dented.

The box is approximately 6 inches square, and made of a very dark wood, and has no visible hinges or opening mechanism. The top is inlaid with an odd design - a nine-square matrix. lines inlaid with a silvery metal. In each square there is a number, but the last square is blank. The numbers are:

7 13 10
29 24 5
26 21

Dethwing creeps down the hallway through the gold door. He hears a humming sound, which gets louder as he approaches the turn. He notices that this hallway is decorated with paintings of people in odd costumes. He is wondering if there's any significance to that when he arrives at the corner. He peeks around and sees that 5 feet past the corner, the hallway is blocked by a shimmering golden field. He cannot see what is beyond the field.

I take a good look at the field, and anything else i can see from where I am. Then i retreat back down the hallway, paying special attention to the odd costumes to see if i can figure them out.

Dethwing examines the field and finds that it is the source of the humming sound. He can't determine what generates the field or how to turn it off. He turns to go back down the corridor, examining the paintings as he goes.
There are four paintings, all of which depict couples in strange costume standing in front of a sea of people, who are indistinct and in the background. One couple is dressed in brightly colored ponchos and large straw hats. Another wears togas and laurels on their heads. A third appears to be dressed as the front and back halves of a cow, and the fourth wear outfits constructed of what appears to be duct tape.
Dethwing shakes his head and returns to the fountain room.

Dethwing moves back into the fountain room, where he attempts to move the petrified Pika by force of arms. He pulls and tugs, but there is no movement. He is not able to move any of the statues by himself.
