Updated with Final Question: #6

So far we've had two GL Dating Games in a thread, but this is the first one with a guy asking questions.

Since I suggested it, I'll also start it. I'll have to rely on a mod though to edit if things get a little too far out of the realm of good taste.

I'm the eligible bachelor, I'll ask the questions. Ladies (or posers), you answer using a fake username. After a few questions, I'll decide who gets to be my date in the Private Forum

So here we go:

Q1: How far have you ever gone on a first date and why? (no real details required)
Q2: If I gave you $1000 what would you do with it?
Q3: You are a spice. Which one, and why?
Q4: Tell me the most selfless thing you ever did for someone else
Q5: If you wanted to warn me about one thing that you don't like about yourself, what would it be?

Final Question - I said individualized, but that's not exactly how it works out. You must tell me your impressions of the other candidates vying for a date with me.

Q6: Please tell me why I should not pick any of the other candidates. Do not tell me why I should pick you, but tell me specifically why I should not pick any of the others.

They are:
sPam
delirious
Smoky
Stella
Jane
VivianQ

I look forward to your responses.

A1. Depends on how much I'm being paid. I don't work for free.

A2. I assume you mean from an anonymous donor? I would probably continue dancing.

Q1: How far have you ever gone on a first date and why? (no real details required)

nowhere.
to me the point of a first date is have fun and learn more about one another. "going somewhere" may well be fun, but it makes the second part rather difficult.

Q2: If I gave you $1000 what would you do with it?

first I would wonder if it was a plan to get me to change my answer to Q1.
then I'd spend it visiting someone. since you made it possible, you would top my list, so I could thank you in person. and since $1000 is really quite a bit of money, I think I'd also have enough to take part in a GL convention (or mini-, like in DC).

Q1) Well, I don't go on so many first dates - I usually don't date a guy unless I know him really well already, and then there is a lot more casual hanging out involved than actual "going out". But I guess I would have to say kissing, because I'm sure it's happened. I'm just not sure when outings officially become "dates" and the like.

Q2) Honestly? I would give it back. I couldn't take your money.
Let me know if it was someone else's money, THEN we'll talk.

Hrm...
~needs to think of longer, more impressive answers~

1) I haven't really been on many, if any, first dates...though (I hope this doesn't give me away) at band camp a guy spent the night in my bed. Nothing happened, but he was there. And the only guys I've ever kissed were my boyfriends, so...yeah.

2) Assuming $1000 wasn't much to you, I'd use it to buy two tickets to Colorado. It's just somewhere I'd like to go. And I don't think you've been there. We could have fun and the like just exploring and doing what fancies us.

Question 1) Any man who's brave enough to kiss me on the first date I will most certainly let. One time, I could see it in his eyes that he wanted to come in, but I had to make him wait. I think its much more exciting to look forward to stuff like that.

Question 2) Manolo Blahniks. Then I might have enough left to take you out to dinner to show you how happy I am!

Q1: How far have you ever gone on a first date and why? (no real details required)
3rd base, could have make it all the way home, but didn't want to rush into it. It was a weird night, we both had immediate attraction for each other, at least we did that night. It didn't work out in the end though, maybe I *should* have made it all the way home that first night. Ah well.

Q2: If I gave you $1000 what would you do with it?

put $500 aside, use the rest to take out friends for a fun and rowdy night.

Q3: You are a spice. Which one, and why?

I really don't know much about spices, so my answer has a lot more to do with random positive associations.

basil.

basil is used most often (as far as I know) in tomato sauces, which flavor my favorite foods, pasta(s) and pizza.

also, my favorite poet, Keats, has a poem entitled The Pot of Basil
(which is a bit long at first glance, but it doesn't take too long to realize that it's actually too short ).

3) Hmmmm, I'd like to think that I would be cinnamon. It's sweet, and it smells good, and tastes good, and it's really hot.

In reality though, I'd probably be something like pepper. Is pepper a spice? Kind of grey and smells funny. Makes you sneeze sometimes. But still very very good. I like pepper.

3) I'd say pepper. It's simple and goes with everything. Plus, I'd like to think that pepper makes people happy, and that's what I do: make people happy.

Ooh, and pepper makes people sneeze. I've a mighty sneeze, so that's some kind of connection...

Q4: Tell me the most selfless thing you ever did for someone else

I don't really tend to be a selfless person. I'm pretty generous, with money and time, but rarely does it involve real sacrifice. for instance, I've often been a shoulder to cry on, or given up on plans just to chat when someone needs it, but never does it involve hardship - being caring is its own reward.

so to find a time I've really been selfless, I've got to go way back to when I was a lot more selfish.

my brother and I grew up in a single parent household, and our mom really didn't make very much money. it was really pretty amazing the way she managed to take care of us. one of the results was that I grew up very frugal.

anyway, when I was about seven, I'd managed to scrape together about $80 over the course of what must have been a year, by saving any money I found, or got for birthdays, Christmas, and such (I never spent money on anything except occasional packs of gum).

the background is rather personal, but my mom had something of an altercation with her boyfriend, and needed some money (I don't quite remember the reason), and I gave her my $80. it sounds like the sort of thing any kid might do, but it was terribly hard for me, because I'd spent so much effort not spending in order to save it up.

sorry about the long answer.

[edit] I hope no one saw that [/edit]

dang it Beartalon, you're moving too fast!

Q3: You are a spice. Which one, and why?

I'll be red hot tabasco sauce. I am spicey and will make you feel alive, woohoo!

Q4: Tell me the most selfless thing you ever did for someone else

I don't know about it being the most, but I seem to remember this one more than usual.

I was getting gas and this eldery woman was asking the cashier for directions. I overheard them and his directions was crapped, so I went up to her and asked her where she's going. She told me she's from out of State visiting her daughter and she was trying to find this restaraunt where's they're suppose to be meeting, but she's so hopelessly lost, and her grand child is in the back seat of her car napping but's getting hungry. I know where the restaraunt was, but while I was giving her directions, I can sense that she's was still hopelessly loss and very afraid and anxious. So I told her to get in her car and follow me, and I took her all the way to the restaurant. She was very happy!

4) I am having such a hard time answering this question, so I'll just go with what I'm thinking.
I don't really think I can rate selfless things I've done. Anytime one gives one's self to another it is a precious thing that has no value, but just is.
It's like if you consider miracles. The miracle that causes someone to put on their seatbelt and survive a carcrash shouldn't be considered lesser of a miracle than the one that causes a meteor to miss hitting the earth.
Whether I've made someone smile for a minute or made someone happy for a whole year, whatever selfless acts I did to cause them is all equal to me.

I guess nothing really stands out to me in my memory. I hope this is a satisfactory answer.

bah... what Stella said. I've been having a lot of trouble with this one as well. I try to be as selfless as possible. Actually, it usually ends up with people seeing me as something of a pushover and abusing my nature. So that's really not very good. But it almost seems like everything we do is done for selfish reasons anyway. Even when you are doing something good for other people at your own expense, it still makes you feel good.

But I guess the most selfless thing I've done recently has been to stay at a place where I'm really not happy, simply because there is someone here who needs me. I've been looking after her for a while now, when I could have gotten away from here and found a place where I can be happier. Still, things are looking up for her. I'm glad I stayed. (See? Selfish. )

One more thing. Heh heh heh.... VivianQ.

5) I don't think there's any need of warning you about things that I don't like about myself. Really, I'm happy with who I am.

Things that need warning:
When I drink a bit much caffeine, I get annoying and loud and say stupid things.
When I am sleep deprived, I get annoying and loud and say stupid things.
Sometimes I don't shave my legs for a week or two.
I go through 'fads' with food; for a few weeks I'll want to go to the same kind of restaurant everytime(eg-Mexican, Chinese)
At times I get overly embarassed for people in movies/tv shows and refuse to watch anymore (I couldn't stand watching Meet the Parents again cause I feel so bad for Ben Stiller)

Well, that's all I can think of for now.

Q5: If you wanted to warn me about one thing that you don't like about yourself, what would it be?

this is kinda tricky to phrase properly...

I am very easily distracted from my interests. what I mean is that I'll be intensely interested in something for a couple weeks, then suddenly be totally interested in something else. like I'll be trying to write a novel, then suddenly switch to drawing, then writing a play, then something else. it's very hard to get anywhere, and it keeps me underachieving because I really don't know what I want to do.

Q5: If you wanted to warn me about one thing that you don't like about yourself, what would it be? I'm obnoxious, arrogant and irritating... I won't leave you alone if I know there's something wrong. I will pester you until you come out with it. (I know it SOUNDS like a goodish point, but it gets very annoying.) If I really fall for you, I will probably get clingy, and want to spend as much time with you as possible.
I'm very much "one of the boys" - if you're looking for a girly girl, then I'm not the person for you. I will drink beer and watch football with your buddies. This can be good or bad, I have a tendency to neglect the person I'm with in favor of their friends - not because I like them more, but because I want them to like me, and not think I'm trying to take their friend away.
I'm loud, and I'm silly, my sense of humor is lame, I laugh at inappropriate moments because, like the boys, I have trouble expressing my deepest emotions, and try to cover it up with humor. My conversation is hard to follow, as I maake random jumps from topic to topic. They make sense to me! I'm paranoid and insecure. Um, is that enough? I'm just getting warmed up!

I'm here!

4) Selfless acts don't have owners, and they can't be ordered... I mean, what criteria would you give: how non-selfish an act is? They just are, and make the world a better place.

5) I have an obsessive personality, and I find myself compelled to do things that I find myself interested in, even though it may interefere with my ongoing life. I read too much, I chat online and on message boards too much, I shop too much... and sometimes my work doesn't get done until 5 in the morning before its due.

Ok, I'll try to answer this question as honestly as I can.

Q5: If you wanted to warn me about one thing that you don't like about yourself, what would it be?

The thing that I don't like most about myself is my tendency to think too much about stuff. Over analyze stuff and try to see the "big picture" instead of enjoying the moment and having fun. All too often I found myself being way to critical of myself and others, instead of appreciating the goodness of the moments and their presence. And not only that, once I realized I am being critical, I would get really really angry at myself and criticize myself for being critical. It's a death spiral. I am learning how to not do so, so no worry. I can tell I am making progress.

I might as well give the other contestants some material to work with.

3. I would probably be garlic. Most people like me, but few want to appear in public with me. I define Caesar Salads and eliminate the need for onion in most foods. When I'm not too busy in the culinary world, my favourite hobby is slaying vampires. :-P

4. I'm currently doing some medical testing for a new vaccine which could, in turn, save hundreds of school-aged children. I spent a few years as a leader for the local boy scout troop. But I guess the only thing that really seems selfless is that I regularly rip my own ticket when I go to a movie or a concert. I guess it's not very big, but I like to think that I'm being helpful.

5. I'm a bit obsessive. I can have a short attention span. I can be flakey. So be warned: I'm human.

6. I don't think that I can tell you why you shouldn't pick any of the other candidates. They all seem marvelous to me. I'd be careful with that VivianQ one, though, she reminds me of someone. I'm not sure who, though.

6) The sad thing is, pretty much all these contestants would be better for you than me. But I'll tell you why you shouldn't date them anyway, because I would love to win your heart.

sPam: Well, "she" seems like a lot of fun, but from the sounds of her answers, dating "her" could get rather... erm... expensive.

delirious: she said she is easily distracted from her interests. Does this include boyfriends? Apart from that, she sounds great.

Stella: she stole my idea about pepper...

Jane: Um, she mentioned the Spice girls! Also... Manolo Blahniks? (Not that there's anything wrong with that. It just screams "Sex and the City" at me.)

VivianQ: um...... Nothing. She's perfect! Date her, she's really hot!

Thanks Beart, now I feel like a bitch. I hope all you lovely ladies (and otherwise) know that I don't actually mean any of what I said. Except about VivianQ being hot.

this is a somewhat brutal question, so I'm afraid I must answer somewhat brutally.

plus, it would be unfair not to spread the BearTalon around.

of course, smoky mentioned this too, so I guess I'm stealing part of her question six answer, but I have no choice, because there's so little information with which to try and judge people.

6) I guess what I have to say is this:
All these ladies seem like wonderful people (of course the only ones I know the true identities of are the guys and I know they're wonderful). I find that we are each unique, but none of us in a 'bad' way. I can't say that I'm the best or that the others are the worst because I don't really know what you're looking for or what you want. I would be happy with any of the contestants here, so, really, it's all up to you...well, of course it is, but I just don't have anything to say right now to swing you any particular way.

By the way, sorry I 'stole' your answer, Smoky. I honestly didn't read anyone else's replies before I posted that one. Hope you'll forgive me?

~snogs to everyone~
Good luck
