All right. I'm finally able to come back to the GL after a long time away and I want to run a really great game.
Here's how the game works, players will be in teams of two and will need to work together to solve various puzzles and accomplish different tasks. You can sign up here with another person and form your own teams, or if you don't know of anyone in particular and still want to play just sign up and you will be paired. Some of the puzzles will be mailed to everyone at the same time and then answers will need to be e-mailed back to me. The team that sends in their answer last is out of the race. Other times there will be a game posted and the team with the lowest score will be eliminated. There will be other things along the way that can help or hurt your team. Team alliances would also be a very good idea for some legs of the race, but the choice is yours.
The race will be fairly quick paced, I mean its a race for goodness sake! There will be lots of games and challenges to test how well you and your team mate can work together and foul up the other teams. Sign up will be open for two weeks. Before game start, would love to have about 10 teams of two, but less is ok too. If not enough teams sign up I might can tweak the game for solo play, but we'll have to see if it comes to that.
The teams thus far
Antrax and Casinopete
RequiemEternam and Orbiting
Referee and Groza528
People in and will be assigned teams
DMTsurel
Duke Gnome
Sami
The Ktulu
MillerTime
Duphrates
Skellum

Depending on how fast paced, I'm in. Anyone should feel free to team up with me, or just assign someone to me.

| I want to say /in, but I suck at puzzles. I may or may not suck at tasks. If anyone is desperate for a partner, I'll be in. |

Glad to see such a big response. This game will use two different game types:
Timed Puzzles: These will be mailed to you, since you will be working in teams each person in the team will get different information, so you will have to work together to solve the puzzle. You will e-mail the answers back to me in my hotmail e-mail, the received time of the e-mail will be when you cross the finish line of that part of the race. I will announce in here exactly when the e-mails will be mailed using GL time so that everyone knows what's going on and everyone has an equal opportunity. If there are any conflicts in schedules that would cause one team to not participate then the mailing time will be changed so that it is fair.
Score Games: These games will require you and your partner to participate in a game that everyone will be playing, standard deadlines of about 2 to 3 days per move can be expected. At the end of the game the higher your score and the faster you move during that leg of the race.
All the deadlines will be strict unless I am notified of a need to be flexable. I only do this because I can't stand it when games drag on foreer because of one or two people not paying attention. Also before the game starts I need for you to tell me what time area you are in (GMT+-) so that I can plan the games so that everyone has a good chance of playing. I hope that answers all questions. If you have anymore go ahead and post them. |

Oh, one other small thing, if the majority of the puzzles are going to assume people are native speakers, I should probably opt out. I find it very difficult to anagram English or know obscure words, and I woudln't want to burden poor ole casinopete.

I think that pete could use a burden. Maybe two or three. I say that you write everything you send to him in a different language |

Antrax: I am an ok puzzler at best - and I'd rather have a burden than be a burden. fnord.
- That ended up sounding a mite conceited. What I really mean to say is that I'm at least as likely to be a burden to you as you are to me.

Well I would use a different language but that would have to mean I know a different one. Anyway, the way the timed puzzles are set up when you solve the answer, you will definately know it, there won't be any mistake about it, and you will know immediately you have completed that section. Also there might be a few games or puzzles that have to do with words, but they will be nothing obscure, I always hate that about crossword puzzles. |

| I don't see it taking too terribly long. I would budget a little over a week per leg of the race. At the end of each leg is an elimination, so when there are less teams and people involved the game will move even faster. When it's all said and done I would say a couple of months tops. |

The game will start pretty soon after we get one more person in. Once we hae that I will post some more detailed rules and finish getting everything ready so we can start. Go ahead and e-mail me from the e-mail you want to use for the game and in the e-mail include the following:
Your GL screen name
Your screen name on any message service (AOL IM, Yahoo messenger, etc.)
Your time zone by GMT (example: Central time is GMT -6:00)
Favorite Food
Favorite Movie
Favorite Sport
Favorite Color
Favorite Board Game
First Job
In a game of mafia do you like being Mafia or Town?
In what order do you enjoy these: Word games, number puzzles, code solving, logic puzzles, picture puzzles?
If I told you to pick a number between 1 and 10 what is the first number that pops into your head?
Another employee at where you work (which for this scenerio is a retail setting like Wal-mart or a grocery store) is a very good friend of yours and you have known this person for several years. This person comes over to your house quite often and you feel that they are one of your closest friends. One day at work you see this person ring up a customer and pocket some of the customers money instead of putting it in the register. Later on in the day you confront your friend and tell him what you saw, he tells you that he's done it before without any problems, the store has enough money as it is, and he needed some extra cash so he didn't think there was anything wrong with it. In this situation would you:
A.) Tell the boss on your good friend
B.) Let the friend keep the money and just forget you saw anything
C.) Agree not to tell the boss if the friend gives you half of the money
D.) Join him the next time that he does this
If you can E-mail me these answers to umbrellacorp@hotmail.com we'll be that much closer to beginning. |

| Also for those who are being assigned teams, it would be a good idea for you and your team mate to know each other's e-mail, also if you have any message service like AOL IM or Yahoo that would be helpful for you too. |

| Hmmm, with all of the people dropping out fairly quickly I may put this game on hold until the end of the year when people have Christmas breaks, this game really does need more players to work right. As for now the sign up will be closed and the game put on hold until further notice. Look for it's return though around November. |

| Yeah, I definately want to do this game, I have all of the puzzles and things set up, and what I thought was a pretty clever way of running it, but that will just remain a secret until the game is run. I think if everyone wanted to it can be run in December, that way Christmas holidays would free up those in school and since most get a few holiday days off we might be able to get a proper game going. |
