Hy, please don't take this the wrong way, but the last two moves were (to use a bastardized poker phrase) throwing good stones after bad. Okay, now for some constructive criticism. There is no way you can create life (ie. two independent eyes) in the bottom left corner of the board and the white stones in that area will surely die. (I'll try to make their death as painful as possible to maximize carnage and "ass spreadification" ). I think the only way they had a chance, though not necessarily a good chance, to live was for you to have played D2 instead of B2 two moves earlier.

Yeah, I'm not very good at this game. I play too fast without thinking.
I do appreciate your advice. From what I understand of the game, taking advice is how you learn.

Also... in about an hour, I'll be going home for the weekend. I won't be sober again until monday morning, so if anyone wants to jump in and finish getting my ass spread, then feel free. |

Strike that. After looking at the board, D7 would be horrible. |

Well, I'll be honest with you Hy, I don't see how you can win. But, if you think you can learn something by continuing to play than by all means keep going. On the other hand, you do have a long weekend of drinking and being not sober ahead of you so that is always an important factor to consider. The choice is yours. |

I'd be glad to help you out, but I'm not sure exactly how you want me to assist you.
In the current game, I can't see any moves that will guarantee life for a group of white stones. The only advice I can offer that may be of value is that being too aggresive in GO is usually a bad thing. GO is about sharing and balance. You have to share territory with your opponent while trying to maximize your portion and minimizing theirs. If you are always trying to surround the opponent's stones and they succeed in creating life, then, not only will you not be able to kill, but your stones may also have difficulty in creating life. I added two links in the first post of this thread that I found very useful so maybe you can try checking them out. Since I am also fairly new to GO, I can't give any real instruction or teach anyone much more than the basic rules since that is all I really know. Most of my experience in GO comes from losing many games in Yahoo's Beginner Go Rooms which I'd say is the best way for a beginner to learn GO. Just learn the rules and start toying around w/ the game. |
