Rules:

Every night the Mafia choose someone to kill (via email) and the moderator announces the death. The player killed is out of the game, and may no longer speak about the game while it is still going on. After the deaths are announced, it is day.

The town (everyone alive, including the secret Mafia) argues about who they think is Mafia. Once they reach a majority for someone, that player is lynched, and his/her role is revealed. Then it is night again. The game alternates between night and day, killing and lynching, until either the Mafia are all dead, or the Townsfolk are all dead. The surviving group wins.

Special Rules for this game:

1) I will set a time limit for mafia murders and lynching - if the Godfather does not send an email stating who they wish to kill, I will randomly murder someone. Likewise if a majority is not reached by the appointed time limit, the person with the most votes gets the noose.

2) There will be four mafia members (who know each other) that can only discuss events and strategy with each other in the night. The Godfather of the family (immune to police investigations) announces the victim to me by E-mail. Should the Godfather die, I will select a new one.

3) There are two cops who do not know each other - they send me an email every night stating who they wish to investigate. I will respond stating whether that person is mafia or not. How they use that information is to their discretion. Blurting it out means certain death by mafia in the next night....

4) There are four members of the duck lodge (who know each other). They can discuss strategy in the evening and have the advantage of using their votes together to lynch someone.

5) There is 1 doctor who can protect one person each night from a mafia kill. They email me their choice each night. Unfortunately for them, they cannot protect themselves.

6) When you are dead, you are dead!! Under no circumstance can you post relevant information after you die, whether it is by lynching or by mafia . This may be the most important rule of all. It is OK to say something like Ouch, or Bugger, or Go town!, but leave it at that. This holds for the cops as well!

7) If you can no longer play, let me know and I will try to get a replacement for you. Do not commit suicide in the thread.

magness, tying a noose is simple. all it is is a bowline with extra loops at the top. i learned that in scouts. (go fig) i also learned a way to tie a bowline around your waist while hanging from a cliff with one hand. quite a trick.

The sun rises in the peaceful village of Messina, children happily play in the street and the sweet smell of freshly baked bread fills the air. That is until a deathly scream is heard.

The villagers shocked at such a sound run to its source to find the decapitated body of Dragon Phoenix on the ground. Poor townie DP killed by the mafia on this very first night.

It is up to you, the inhabitants of Messina to work out who the nasty mafia members are and lynch them... before they kill you.

Well, I checked and found that A Fire Inside, Antrax, Digglu, Enymion's Fall, LocoLobo, Purgation, Sessie and Sparhawk did not post their confirmation to the discussion group. Perhaps some of them were trying the popular mafia strategy of clamming up to avoid suspicion. I throw an eight sided die and get ... 7, Sessie. I also suspect AnnoyingPest, on grounds of being really annoying.

So, do either of you have any defense against my accusations? (Besides the fact that my logic is terrible. I already know that.)

Well, let me just say that, being a total newbie to this game, I don't know whether I should declare my complete and utter innocence or not. That'd look really suspicious, wouldn't it?

Let me just say then, that I'd have loved to have been a mafia member, but I'm not (as you will find out, when I'm either lynched or murdered).

I think Captain Canada may be mafia. Sort of a Jekyll and Hyde thing. Superhero by day and murderer by night.

Well, if you really are an innocent townie, the best thing to do would be to dig through the archives of this group and look through some of the old mafia games. You'll see a few strategies that mafias have used in the past and will be better able to detect them, and you'll see logic that has found mafias in the past.

If you're an evil mafia, then the best thing to do would be to get down on your hands and knees and beg for mercy, for the townies will crush you!

However, because you did post early, you will be moved from my "highly suspicious" list to my "somewhat suspicious" list. But that Captain Canada fellow does seem suspicious. Captain, how do defend yourself?

Degenerate, please don't edit or delete old posts. In Mafia, people frequently look back at the old posts, and it it considered from bad form to cheating to tamper with that record. I realize you were just working that tagline, but please be better in the future.
