Just thinking about my other mafia games with people I know. You investigated me as soon as you could in mini2, discer investigated me night 1 in backwards. I'm not completely convinced, but even two votes is enough for you to get lynched in a hurry.

when defending herself to mikegoo- and well, look at it. it csetainly seems to me that this is saying "hey i'm just a silly townie" but of course, riiiight! and most of the town isnt mafia. (and just for those people who will hold this against me later-that was seeping with sarcasm- lots of it!)

she also seems to have some sort of rapor(sp?) with mikegoo. it kinda seems like she really shouldn't fear his wrath because he won't be mean and evil towards her? in the first round they both voted for me in a very short span of time-which makes me sad an suspicious. perhaps they are the capones? with just 2 of them? or maybe there's a third hiding somewhere making them the corleones?

My reasoning for mentioning that I suck at this is pretty simple - I do, which is interesting, because I seem to be pretty good at it face-to-face. Nonverbal cues, or something

Zealot's response as to why he is suspicious of me is (as he admits himself) not based on any great insight. That is a shame. Remember Zealot and ANI's recent posts when I turn out to be town!

I can assure everyone that I was indeed off work with the 'flu. My posts are also quite erratic as I rarely check in every day, it is usually more like every other day, what with work and family commitments. I have been away since Thursday on business and just got back last night, for example. Although I have internet access at work and while I am away on business, I rarely have the time or opportunity to check the GL.

I could try and survive a bit longer by changing my vote to Orbiting which would make her favourite for lynching, but I would rather get the whole town's support (or otherwise) by leaving it up to you guys.

My vote stays with A Neo Inside - please, everyone else, think carefully before you lynch me.

What reasons do you have for voting me? I mean seriously, you were after me when I was just Neo, and I was still a townie then. Think about that before you argue that I was involved in Cube's lynch.

IMHO, your defenses are weak. I know you can do better then that. I mean come on, your blaming it all on the fact that you don't post regularly? I haven't based any of my suspicions on that, I base them on the fact that in just a few posts you've managed to throw out enough CrapLogic(TM) to fertilize a farm.

With two entire votes (sheesh) the town sends Mentat to the lynching tree. They find a red rose within his inner coat pocket. Relieved that they finally caught a mafia, they search Mentat's home to find that he was also indeed the Capone Godfather. Unfortunately, he had destroyed any connections to anyone else, leaving the town little evidence as to whom may be the final Capone member. The townsmen go to bed as night falls, knowing this may be the last chance for the town.

Mikegoo stutters, "No, wait, I.. wait!" But a little too late. Three shots are heard, and he is dead.
Zealot hears a voice behind him, "You missed," and hears another gunshot as his brains splattered across the room.

Mikegoo (townie) is dead.
Zealot (mafia, Corleone) is dead.

5 people left (1 Capone, 2 Corleone, 2 townies).

Actually, SK, I haven't participated loudly because I've discovered that I'm not really all that entranced with this game on the net, and that as previously mentioned, I'm not much good at it - I think it's Richter's Law that says 'Never assume malice where mere incompetence would suffice'. However, I think I'm on to something at the moment - so this round I won't vote for you.
Instead, I'll vote: makemeok based on brief analysis of previous voting patterns. I think he's the last Capone, and if that's the case, maybe the two remaining Corleones will back me here?

I don't think Heinlein said it with that exact phrasing, but in one of his stories from 1941, one character criticizes another for attributing to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

(By coincidence, somebody was using that phrase elsewhere, so I decided to look up the exact phrasing yesterday. One of the sources also suggested that "Hanlon" is a corruption of "Heinlein".)

voting patterns? could you explain? the only pattern i can think of is voting quietish people... maybe because the mafias have been going for quietish people, too?

incidentally, if you're a townie, why would you want to lynch the last Capone now? correct me if i'm wrong, but the Corleones would win.

Summary: (someone correct me if I'm wrong) SK is voting orbiting, orbiting is voting makemeok, all 3 guys are not voting, although I gave a FOS to SK and ANI. Makemeok just posted to the obviously baffling logic that orbitng keeps presenting as her "I don't like this game online, tee hee" defense, and ANI made more meaningful posts when it was night.

I miss something?

I should have made it clear I was waiting for OG's decision before voting. This drastically changes my plans, and I'll have to be much much more careful with my vote.

In order for the town to win, we must lynch a Corleone, and the Capone must kill a Corleone to survive. Whether we like it or not, we have a tense symbiotic relationship. The Capone needs us to win, and we need that person.

It'd be nice to lynch a Corleone and then the two remaining mafias kill eachother at night

I'm going to take some time before I vote, and see if I can figure out who the remaining Capone is, they vote for somebody else likely to be mafia. If we lynch the other townie or the Capone today, it's all over.

This is why I wanted vote confirmations, that way I could watch to see who jumps on a bandwagon without losing.

there isn't anyone i'm not thinking of voting. like i said before, i'm suspicious of everybody (which is only right, i think). but if i'm just trying to figure out who the Corleones are, i start comparing one-on-one relationships in the game... this is my quick recollection of the things that immediately come to mind. if anybody has anything to add (including analyzing my own relationships with others), feel free. i'll review the thread some more and see what else i can come up with.

ANI & Orbiting - nothing comes to mind

ANI & SK - replies 504 and 506 come to mind:

Neo says, "maybe because your are secretly infatuated with me?"

now, i would think Mafia would be too worried about appearing affiliated to be so.. friendly. if they're working together, SK is either pretty ballsy, or not too bright. i'm inclined to think not.

ANI & sketchwick - they clashed a bit, it seemed genuine, and it was pretty late in the game. if they're the Corleones, i think we're doomed. fortunately, i don't think they are.

Orbiting & SK - SK's really going after Orbiting, so again, unless she's being really ballsy, i doubt they're working together.

i would generally be more suspicious of pairs who have not interacted much with each other. so i'm not really looking at individuals here. in other words, while i currently have Orbiting and sketchwick each in two "blank" pairs (which of course could change), that doesn't necessarily mean i'm most suspicious of them as individuals. make sense? anyway, i know i'm overlooking a lot, which is why i'd like other people to add their thoughts.
