Hm, I still can't help feeling the game was WAY biased towards town. I mean, we started losing two cops, and lynched three townies in a row in the middle. That should have set up back SOME, and still we survived easily. What would have happened if Dumbledore had lived? We had a LOT of people sending in choices at night on the town's side. Just given Dumbledore (cop with killing abilities), Harry (cop), Guilderoy (incompetant cop, would have become useful once we realized he was incompetant), and Trelawny (could not only see if the person they chose was out of their dorm but could see who they visited), as well as the slew of others who could at the LEAST find masons, like I could... there were a LOT of investigations going on. What do you all think?

Oh, let me explain how to play the quidditch games. They were rather easy.
Beater practise:
I found out that if you drive the ball into one of the lower corners you are able to keep the ball there. That way you get a score over 1300 easy. Later in the game you get two ball to keep away. I got lucky and got both balls in the right corner making a score of over 2400.
Chaser practise:
Was a simple case of making no mistakes. First drive your chaser buddy into the right corner so passing the ball will take less time. After that you just score in a diagonal line in the middle goal.
Seeker practise:
Well...euh....just keep the owls away from the ball. That's all. The balls all come from one point. Just make sure the owls don't hang around that point.
Keeper practise:
I would have won this one too. Too bad I didn't get the chance.
I was really trying to get myself killed by continuously saying I had two marauders maps (which I didn't have). I had a nimbus 2000. So I was hoping the mafia would target me and I would find out who it was.
I think the game was pretty balanced.

The roles were devised by Sooth, so he will have to explain some of his thinking, but I think things would have been at lot harder for the town if either of IS got to spill everything he knew to the mafia or if the Basilisk had either lived or was recruited by the Death eaters.
The other thing to remember is that the roles that only revealed if someone was home or not, were a double edged sword. You could end up accusing someone like a docotor (and getting their role out into the open) or if something like what happened in the end happned earlier, you assume a mafia is clean because they were not the one doing the killing last night.
IMO the thing that really upset the balance was how well Chuck played. He only shot bad guys. If he had gone off shooting innocents or been wrong in either case, the town would have been a lot worse off. |

Werebear, your winning would not have given all the mafias immunity, since not all of us were in Slytherin. I personally was in Ravenclaw.
A few side comments to future mods:
1) If the game involves anything outside the forums itself (in this case the Quidditch games), then that should be mentioned in the sign up thread. I had to go through five different browsers on three computers before I could get the game to work.
2) The initial emails should give people all the information about the role they should have. Our initial emails mentioned that Ferris was Voldemort and that there was a Wormtail, and gave the names of everyone else. I assumed that we were all generic Death Eaters, especially due to the shortage of significant characters from Ravenclaw (Cho & Angela). Had we known our real roles, crackerjack (Snape) probably could have lasted longer. I wouldn't have gone after Draco so much and left myself some weasel room had I known my own role. |

Back from my hols now. Big thanks to Elayne for helping out modding and writing some great death scenese.
Thanks to everyone for playing. Special note should be given to Hagrid for playing especially well - timing was everything especially when it came to killing Wormtail.
At various points in the game it looked as though either side cold have won but in the end a combinationg of factors gave the game to the town.
I'll answer any questions you want about the roles etc here. Meanwhile i would be grateful of your opinion of having extra tasks outside the normal running of the game to win prizes/immunity. I do take on board though what was previously said about mentioning it in the sign-up |

It was mildly interesting to have the outside stuff, but I really prefer that everything stay within the thread. I could have brought a mouse home from work to use, but I really thought it was too much bother.
The outside stuff should probably be more generic- less browser dependant. I choose to use a trackball, which is not as good for games like that as a mouse is, so I felt I was at a real disadvantage.
I definitely agree that it should have been mentioned in sign-up. Also think that the details should have been given out earlier so that I could have realized that I didn't have a chance at the extras and I could have made a decision earlier.

I couldn't say I disliked the outside games now do I
O and Jeep, I used a trackball for all my high scores. I tried using a normal mouse but it was a lot more difficult. I think I told elayne right after chaser practise that a trackball had the advantage. Am I right elayne? |

Well I thought the games were a nice touch
That was probably helped by the fact that I didn't have any browser problems. |
