Introduction

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose over the Aryth Ocean. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

East it blew, toward land, under the partly cloudy sky of Autumn. It carried sea mists over Tarabon, and travelled over the mountains to Emond's Field. The wind continued East and North, over rivers and the Caralain Grass of Andor. It seemed to blow through Dragonmount on its way to Tar Valon.

Quickly the wind continued through a White Tower window, completely messing up the new hair style Elaida had been working on for two hours. She almost imagines she hears a faint voice on the wind...

fools

The wind continues North to the Blight and Shayol Ghul. While the Dark One's prison is no nearer to this place than any other, the wind is drawn to the Bore.

shai'tan

shai'tan, wake up

WOULD YOU BE NAE'BLIS?

you always were a dozy northern bint, even if there isn't north where you are.

PETE, HOW FARES THIS WORLD?

well, i just had a quick look around. you've made quite a mess of the place.

LET THE LORD OF CHAOS...

oh stop with the posturing.

BAH.

now listen, i tire of this whole endless turning business. if i had known it would turn out this way, i never would have created this place.

THEN LET ME...

no, i'm not letting you run the place. you've made a mess of it as it is. i suppose i must be fair though. say, let's have tarmon gaidon today.

TODAY?

yeah, listen, i was thinking, in my infinite wisdom and all, i should be able to come up with a fair way to resolve all this.

AND?

well, let's play a little game. you pick some of your people, i'll pick some of mine, yours can kill mine, mine can kill yours, it'll be loads of fun, eh?

YOUR PEOPLE OUTNUMBER MINE. CAN I CHEAT?

don't you always?

SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

well, we'll get some... random... people from the world, and make them fight for the fate of the world. your guys can be nasty and kill, mine will try to kill yours. they aren't too bright sometimes though, look at those goofy children of the light.

INDEED. NOT THAT MY PEOPLE ARE THE BRIGHTEST EVER. ANYWAY, SOUNDS LIKE A GRAND IDEA. ANY CHANCE FOR ME TO GET OUT OF THIS PLACE AND GET A DECENT SHOWER WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

well, if that's settled...

And so, the Creator of the Wheel created a ter'angreal, and random people of the world were brought to this place. The Dark One had a hand in it, of course, giving the people random new names (where did you come up with these anyway? antrax? kazooish? WELL, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME ALOT OF TIME TO THINK...), so that his people would have a chance.

The people chosen to decide the fate of the world woke up in a strange place. The gathered together, confused by the weird dual sense of self and alias, not knowing what to do.

tap. tap. is this thing on? just kidding... ok ok, i know i'm not funny, i don't have to be, i just created people to be funny for me. so, you're all wondering why you are here. well, i decided i was bored of the whole spinning wheel thing, and so i want to get this over with. you lot are here to determine whether shai'tan should get to do what she wants or not. to do this, we are going to use a game i learned at the last convention of really powerful beings. basically, shai'tan's folk get to kill every night, and then you get to try to lynch them. sound like fun? good. have fun all, let me know when you've decided the fate of the universe!

And, with that, Pete, Creator of the Wheel of Time, left to take a nap.

Information about Wheel of Time Characters and such

First, as I don't expect I'll do a very good job of explaining things, I recommend reading here if you haven't read the books.

Mostly this will be stuff out of the glossary in the books, with some random comments by me thrown in.

The Wheel of Time - Time is a wheel with seven spokes, each spoke an Age. As the Wheel turns, Ages come and go, each leaving memories that fade to legend, then to myth, and are forgotten by the time that Age comes again. The Pattern of an Age is slightly different each time an Age comes, and each time it is subject to greater change.

True Source - The driving force of the universe, which turns the Wheel of Time. It is divided into saidin (male half) and saidar (female half).

One Power - The power drawn from the True Source. Most people can never learn to channel the One Power; a small number can be taught, and an even smaller number have the ability inborn. This is the source of Power for the Aes Sedai, the Forsaken, and some others.

Dark One - Shai'tan, the source of evil, the antithesis of the Creator. Imprisoned by the Creator in Shayol Ghul at the moment of Creation.

Age of Legends - The Age before the current one. During this time, there were both male and female Aes Sedai, and they performed wonders now only dreamed of. In this Age, two researchers, looking for a new source of power, created a Bore into the Dark One's prison. Many Aes Sedai joined the Dark One with promises of power and immortality.

At the end of the Age of Legends, Lews Therin Telamon, called the Dragon, lead 100 male Aes Sedai to Shayol Ghul to close the Bore. While they were mostly successful, the Dark One tainted saidin, causing male Aes Sedai to go mad. Because of the damage they caused, people in the Third Age are very fearful of male channelers, and they are hunted down and gentled (cut of from the Source) by the Aes Sedai.

Aes Sedai - Users of the One Power, the Aes Sedai in the Third Age are all female, due to the taint on saidin. They are divided into 7 Ajahs, each with different focuses (Red - gentling men, Brown - knowledge and history, Yellow - healing, Green - "the battle ajah", Blue - generally focus on quests and missions and such, Grey - negotiators, White - logic and reason). There is also a secret Black Ajah, composed of those loyal to the Dark One.

Forsaken - 13 of the most powerful Aes Sedai who went over to the Dark One during the War of Power. They were bound at Shayol Ghul at the end of the Age of Legends, but as the seals are weakening, they have been let loose once more.

Children of the Light - Military organization concerned with eliminating evil. However, they include anyone that can touch the True Source in this.

Prophecies of the Dragon - Writings saying that the Dragon will be reborn to fight the Dark One at Tarmon Gaidon (the last battle). A few male channelers have appeared claiming to be the Dragon Reborn, but all were gentled by the Aes Sedai eventually.

Aiel - Residents of the wasteland east of the Spine of the World (mountains). They are very battle oriented, and concerned with honour (ji'e'toh).

Ogier - A non-human race characterized by their great height. They are concerned with nature, and are also excellent stonemasons.

Seanchan - Descendants of the armies of Artur Hawkwing that were sent across the Aryth Ocean. The believe that any woman who can channel must be controlled for the safety of everyone, and any man must be killed for the same reason. They also believe that the whole of Artur Hawkwing's empire is their right.

Rand al'Thor - The Dragon Reborn, a male channeler. He, along with Mat Cauthon and Perrin Aybara, were forced to leave the Two Rivers area because the Dark One's forces were looking for the Dragon Reborn.

Egwene al'Vere - Another from the Two Rivers, she left with Rand etc. to become Aes Sedai.

Nynaeve al'Meara - Former Wisdom of Emond's Field in the Two Rivers, left to become Aes Sedai and learn more about healing.

As far as this game goes, obviously not all of the characters are included. Also, there are more characters than I could type up. That's what that link is for.

Game Mechanics

This game will run like an ordinary Mafia game, except for the use of the One Power. One Power users (Aes Sedai, Forsaken, Rand, or otherwise) can sense each other (males can sense males, females can sense females). Because of this, it is to their benefit to only use the Power when necessary. The ratio of good vs. evil is fairly constant, whether in the game as a whole, or among the male/female channelers. Obviously the Forsaken will want to eliminate the other channelers, as they are harder to kill, but using the Source themselves will reveal them to others.

There were male Aes Sedai then, yes? I know they existed at sometime in the history, and I believe the war of power was what led to their demise. Only in the current age are Aes Sedai strictly female.

It was the taint that the Dark One put on Sadin that caused all men who channeled to go crazy. Before the Dark One was released there were males who could channel, it was only after he was imprisoned again that he put the taint on Sadin.

But with the destruction of Shadar Logoth nd the most powerful sa'angreal in book 9, it seems that the male channelers can now touch the untainted Saidin.

Bah @ UBB code. I can't do invisble text TT_TT

[second edit] I wonder which up to which book this game is based on. If we are up to book 9, then we'll see non-maniacal male channelers
