Olga (lynched by the villagers)
Lebrecht (villager murdered by werewolves)
Bernhard (lynched by the villagers)
Albrecht (villager murdered by werewolves)
-------------

Specific Game Rules:

I will set deadlines for receiving night-time choices. Failure to meet these will result in a random choice being made on your behalf by me on the first occasion, then no result at all on all subsequent occasions.

If I judge that the pace of the game requires it during the day phase, I will declare a deadline for votes and the person with the most votes at that deadline will be lynched. In the event of a tie, it will be the person who reached that total first. Should no-one have reached 50% of the total votes needed for a lynch by the deadline, I will declare no lynch.

The moderator’s decision is usually final. However, there will be an independent Advisor for this game, should any serious dispute arise between moderator and players. The Advisor will have a copy of all information that the moderator has, and will be the final judge of any disputes, should I have recourse to consult the Advisor.

The usual Mafia rules also apply: no posting game relevant information during the night or once you are dead (including your actual identity), no editing or deleting posts, no posting your e-mail, no talking about the game outside the thread, no e-mailing others (unless you are in a group, and then only at night). No talking once you are dead, except for a single, optional “Go town” – type comment.

The moderator reserves the right to replace non-participating players: those people who do not post for two consecutive game ‘days’. Players will be given an e-mail notice and 24 hours to respond before being replaced.

It had been a bad harvest for the village of Greifswald that year. By the time summer was passing, no-one doubted that the omens pointed to a terrible tragedy. A number of livestock had suffered from stillborns or gone mad; crops suffered from blight and unseasonal storms left the township unsettled and uneasy.

Then the disappearances began.

Normally a rich source of game, the forest became quiet. Few birds perched in the tree branches, and those that did remained silent. After a hunter failed to return home, the rumours about an Einzelgaenger, a ‘lone wolf’, gained many supporters. The forest now became associated with death – its eerie silence and sinister shadows seeming to envelop Greifswald in an increasingly suffocating grasp, as villagers refused to venture out to gather firewood or seek news from afar.

Although the storms abated in late August, the villagers’ fears mounted, as the hunter had vanished almost exactly a month ago – at full moon. No-one spoke their fear aloud, but such talk was unnecessary. Deep in their hearts, they could see the awful truth – a malevolent beast was stalking the forest, and its time for killing was approaching…

Early on a bright autumn morning, after the night of the full moon, one of the villagers made a gruesome discovery while on her way to the well. The body of good villager, Jürgen lay up against the granary with a large ragged tear in his throat and one arm broken and bent backwards at a crazy angle – clearly he had been killed in a particularly violent manner. The splashes of crimson blood on the earth still glistened – this had been done recently, and at lightning speed if there had been no time to cry out or fend off the assailant.

When the rest of the villagers were roused and saw the carnage, further clues came to light. Traces of thick, black hair and claw marks were found on the body. Two faint sets of wolf tracks ran away from the scene, out to the forest.

When the villagers followed these tracks, armed with clubs and pitchforks, they found an even more disturbing clue: the tracks both suddenly changed from those of wolves to bare human feet, which then veered right around and headed back to Greifswald, before ending at the bank of a small stream.

This was then the work of werewolves – which were evidently living amongst the residents of Greifswald. Possibly amongst them even now.

One of the men spoke up. “Everyone to the village square. We’ve got to figure out how to find these beasts and kill them.”

And so it came to pass that the nineteen remaining people of Greifswald swore a terrible oath: to choose one of their number to hang, in the hope that they would be hanging not a normal man or woman, but a creature of evil.

Jürgen had been killed. The villagers agreed amongst themselves that if one of their number was accused and had a majority of ten against them, then they would hang.

The first post will always contain the current number of Greifswald residents.

I guess I'll start things off by Voting: Albrecht, since he is first on the list.

BTW, do we have any idea how many werewolves we're dealing with here?

I doubt it - the opening post and the deathscene seem to indicate only one, and that's probably crap in a game this size. If the Mod^H^H^HNarrator wanted us to know the numbers, he'd have told us straight out.

No vote from me until we've got a little more to go on.

Liebe Gott! What a horrible way to die!

There were two sets of wolf tracks leading away from the body, so I am guessing there are at least two werewolves in our midst. But I am only a simple peasant girl.

Ok, the last 6 people to confirm were:
Bernhard, Irma, Nikolaus, Olga, Reinhard, Ursula
Since the first letters anagram to "I Bruno" .. And Bruno is clearly and Italian name. I will assume they are all mafia.
vote:Olga

I think Ursula would be a name for a werewolf

So vote Ursula for now.

Ho, ho, ho... <chuckling>

Allo, this is Olgo, the jolly old chambermaid, confirming.

Oh, this news, it is not good, ya?
All these werewolves with the biting and the scratching and such.
Ok, well, because the list of characters is in (close to) alphabetical order, and we are missing the letters P, Q, V, X, Y and Z, this means absolutely nothing, of course. Except that one of those letters is Q, which can almost always only go with U, so I'm going to vote: Ursula.

Now how is THAT for crap logic... huh?

I don't know if this means anything, but it looks to me like a specific person found Jürgen. Anyone here that wants to share something?

Alternatively my vote will go for Dietrich as obviously he has something wrong with not being able to speak German.

I am not entirely sure that this is what Klara was doing but, just so you know, anyone who asks for cops to come out on the first day always gets one of these:

Just to be clear. I didn't ask for a cop to come out. I just noticed that the Narrator specificly mentioned "her". So I was thinking this means that person could very well be one of the players. I have no idea wether this fact has something to do with the game or not. That's why I asked if someone knows anything about it. That's all.
