Medschool Mafia (Night- Send Choices)

[Insert Prestigious name here] Medical School has erupted in anarchy! Some students were slacking off, but now its time for exams. They felt if they weren't going to pass, than neither was anyone else. These trouble makers must be stopped! The dean has ok'd a plan to throw 1 suspected trouble makers out of a third story window each day, in the hope of stoping these villains.

Day dawns. As everyone goes to class it becomes apparent that 2 people are missing. Everyone rushes to Med Student RequiemEternam's room, to find him strangled with a stethoscope. Fortunatly a nametag was left on the stethoscope. JEEP. Everyone rushes angrily to Jeep's room, to find that the diabolical Jeep, was also dead. Stabbed with a Scalpel, and then later with a thermometer. Spiteful slacker Jeep, is also dead.

Question Vegt: Do doc protections protect against 1 attack or all attacks?

I want to suggest my doc chain method I came up with in another mafia game once it was too late to try it. (GME mafia if any other player is interested)

I really don't think that the doc chain of protection idea will work. Especially this early in the game. To accomplish it, all members of the chain must be competent doctors. First of all, with only one night gone by, players can not be sure of their sanity. Secondly, it allows for the mafia to kill any player not part of that chain. In fact, it narrows the possibilities of who could be a cop. Thirdly, if a player who was part of the chain dies, we would immediately lynch the player who was supposed to protect them. If they were an incompetent doctor (the type who's protections do not work, not the type who's "protections" kill people), then we will have lost a member of the town for no good reason. With the basis of this game set in med-school, we will obviously have many more than the normal number of docs. Or, at least, that is what the players will be told. I am sure that we also will have many more than the average number of incompetent doctors. The chain of doctors will just lead to all doctors eventually killed, but not before all the cops are.

I think this chain of docs idea might be a possibility in another game, once most people have died and more information is known. But in a game with probably 50% being told they were doctors, it would lead to the inevitable downfall of the town.

Also, I would like to Vote: amb because I don't think this is at all helpful to the town. I think it is a method of killing the town, in the guise of a helpful suggestion.

If the mafia players as a whole dont start inventing and trialling methods and using logic, then mafia is well and truly dead and you may as well play bingo software against yourself for fun.

I also don't think it'll work. At least not this early. It'd be too easy for the mafia members to claim doctor.

Let's assume there are 3 mafia (x y z) (same family) and 3 docs (A B C). If they all claimed doc, then your method would suggest something like:

B y x C A z

with each protecting the person on the right, and z protecting B. That leaves 2 doctors unprotected from the start. The mafia kill doc C, giving us:

B y x A z

That day, by your logic, x is lynched. B y A z.
The mafia can kill whichever doc they want. Let's say B. Taht gives us:

y A z

That day, again by your logic, z is lynched. We have y A. Doc A is killed. Sure, that day the town can lynched mafia y, but there are more evil people than just mafia. If the SK(s) stay quiet, s/he could go on an unchecked killing spree.

It’s funny, you know. That you should rant because people aren't thinking, when I came to my conclusion by doing so. I thought about what your suggestion would do for the town, and then what it would do for the opposition. I mentioned that while, if your plan worked, we would be saving the doctors, we would lead the mafia straight towards the cops.
I think I clearly stated why I don't think your plan would work and why it would lead to the town's defeat. I even numbered my points so they could be easily referenced.
Even so, you attack me because I disagreed with your idea. I also think that proposing it would be clearly me a mafia tactic. Why don't you refute my points rather than pitching a fit because I find fault with your logic.

Doc protection protects against 1 attack. If 2 docs protect it protects against 2 attacks, if 3 protect 3 attacks etc....

Well that permanently kills it. But Courk if 3 mafia claimed doc from one family we would wipe them out that way. Making it much easier on the town.

I just wanted this discussed so we actually can work toward eliminating randomness from the game. There must be mthods, and the GL is the best place to invent them

I support amb's idea, but agree with the sentament that it's a few rounds too early to try it. I suggest we try to form it say...two to three rounds from now?

Unfortunately it wont work with Vegt using the 1 doc, 1 protection only system. That was one of the flaws. It relied on the 1 doc saves all method employed by some moderators.

I am forced to surrender the idea, but I believe it is a mechanism that will work and I am dying to have my name alongside Lepton eg A Leptons Gambit, An Amb-Doctor Chain etc...
