To all mafiascum players

Since the most recent backup is June 10th, and since AFAIK Jeep hasn't contacted any of you, I have a request from all of you. The site crashed, and will have to be restored from people's caches, AGAIN. So, back up your cache folder. If you don't know where your cache folder is, post here and state what browser and what OS you use. After you back it up, rename all the files to .txt or .html, and use a simple windows "find" command to find the words "mafiacsum" inside the files. You can delete all the rest. Once the site is up again, I'll instruct on where to send these files.

Oh, dang. I just cleared out my temporary internet files a couple of days before the crash because I was having internet problems. I'm guessing those were the ones you were looking for (C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files in Win98 Second Edition with MSIE). Sorry.

First of all I want the site back up and running, with the backup, so we'll see what we've lost. Then, we'll just set up some simple upload thingie, Jeep still has his perl script to sort through cached mafiascum pages, and the mods of individual games will go over the cached pages to their games to find the most recent ones, then link to them on the first post. For the time being, just hold on to your backups.

If anyone else out there needs info for Mac OS X, cache folders for pretty much any browser is stored in <username>/Library/Caches. I'm searching through my caches right now, but I don't think I have much. I do have:
the more or less complete page 8 of mini 38
five posts from page 12 and ten posts from page 7 of Famous Women
the first post of page 13(!) from Mini 39
page 9 of Mafia 12 up to June 22nd.

I have no idea why my cache was so random, and sorry I can't offer more.

If you have caches send Antrax and I an e-mail telling us that you have files saved off. DO NOT SEND THE FILES TO US, YET.

Hopefully most everything from mafiascum will be back soon. At the worst, we'll realize that all our backups are screwed up somehow, and we'll just have to start over and be more careful about such things. We should be back up in some form or another by the end of the week, I expect.

Totem, one does get used to it after a while; it probably only looks all confusing because of a) the total freemarket system in place here and b) the fact that mafia is a relatively minor part of GL life. If you need help or pointers, feel free to contact me.

For those that haven't seen yet, mafiascum is back, at least partially. We've got an old backup restored (from March), and there are two announcements in the News forum; one general one, and one about the cache (it links back here, of course, since I don't really have a clue about cache; hopefully Antrax or jeep will post something there to explain some more ). Go read those threads.

I can't log into mafiascum- i've tried hitting the back button and stuff after attempting to log in, but it won't let me. i tried to regster a new user name, but when i agree to the thingy- it just tells me that the user name (which i didn't get to enter yet) has been taken.
any ideas as to how i can get in?
