The ground was painted with a leafy green glow. Above the canopy of trees and branches the sun shone brightly. The leaves were still wet with dew, every so often a droplet of dew would form and cascade its way to the ground. The area to an onlooker would seem serene, quiet and still, yet to call the area still was to show up that onlookers ignorance. For you only had to look a little closer to see the teeming. The teeming of insects, bugs and earthworkers of minature scale.
Ants scurried across invisible paths, some off to scout, some returning with food to the nest. Bees flew freely from flower to flower buzzing in contentment. With rhythmic precision a Millipede marched across a fallen mayflower leaf - while above him nestled in nooks and crannies of a pine tree slept the moths who waited for night to fall and the moon to rise.
It was the termite who first noticed something wasnt right. "Take a right, two lefts, climb up and then left again" he thought. The path was one he knew well - a tunnelled labyrinth through the pine. He was supposed to be in the darkest tunnel, but it was streamed with that tranquil leafy green glow. He stood puzzled and slowly he turned to the source of the light. The room, if you will, had been pierced open from the outside. The protective bark of the tree had been spliced by an unknown force - eaten through perhaps. He approached the new opening, tentatively. Termites didnt usually change their surrounds without permits - someone had left through that hole and in a hurry. The termite couldnt have been more wrong. A beak unexpectedly slammed its way in and out the hole. A woodpecker. The termite drew back, he was going to have to raise the alarm, the bug eater mafia was back.....
In the insect village of Leafy Greens - the bugs had built a strong way of life. A symbiosis was achieved amongst them. In the days gone by, the bug eater mafia had made a tumultuous lifestyle for them all - a day in which life was cheap and being eaten alive - cheaper still. Today the bug eaters were banished from Leafy Greens. The only other threat to life were the odd venus fly trap, and spiders. Spiders still lived amongst the bugs but had been quiet of late.
The termite organised a council meeting immediately. The Woodpecker was back, and that meant likely so were the others. The threat needed to be gauged with urgency - a team was put together known as "the colony". They had free access to all the materials of Leafy Greens, and with the help of the insects and minature wildlife - they would determine the threat and work to destroy it once and for all.
The work of the Colony continues. It is night - and the threat not yet determined. Any insects who can work at night should do what they need to.

TANSTAAFL saw a light. Being a gypsy moth she flew toward it haphazardly. A firefly in the distance was beckoning. But unfortunately for her, beckoning as well was a spider - a brown recluse spider. The spider felt a small tingle in his feet. His web was shaking. He had placed it perfectly. With quick action the gypsy moth was tied tight with web. She soon felt two poisonous pincers jabbing into her.
...
The familiar green light of dawn began to flow around Leafy Greens.
"Grab him"
The usually nocturnal Rubberduck was flying around out of control.
He whippeted past the dew covered leaves of the ake-ake bush. He spun. Rubberduck flew vertically up the side of the pine tree, and then proceeded to spin wildly around it. The colony was quick into action. As one unit the colony marched up the side of the pine. Red ant, of the colony, climbed above the path of RubberDuck. He timed himself and jumped. Onto the back of RubberDuck he landed. A quick flying lesson was in order for the ant. A crowd of insects gathered around the pine to watch the aerobatics. Duck shot upwards, and then downwards.
"DIVE BOMB!" came the panicky cry of the onlookers - who rapidly dispersed. Rubberduck crashed into the muddy floor below and became still. The colony dismounted the tree. Quick as a flash they were holding Duck down, and checking his vital signs.
"Delirious; Mad as a hatter!", said Army Ant of the Colony.
"Delirious?" replied the termite.
"It seems that he has contracted dengue fever - he wont be saying much today"
"Dengue Fever - its been a while since that vile disease was amongst us - is it related to the return of the Bug Eaters?"
Army Ant nodded and added, "Most likely. We cant be sure, but at the banishing of the bug eaters several years back, the dengue fever rate dropped to zero. There is a correlation, but exactly what that is, isnt known"
This time the termite nodded - a glum look on his face.
Rubberduck is comatosed from his head on collision with the ground, and suffers the effects of a delirium inducing form of dengue fever. He wont be posting or voting today.
"Is there anything else I should know about" said the termite.
"Well - there is Jeep"
"Who in the blue blazes is Jeep?"
"He was a Chinese water dragon sir. He was found amongst the prohibited area"
"He was in with the venus fly traps?!?!?"
"Yeah and somehow one of them managed to swallow him. Hes dead sir, but its not all bad - he was known to be one of the bug eaters from yesteryear"
"So we have a bug eater dead already? Well thats good"
"Yes - yes it is sir"
Dead
TANSTAAFL, GyspyMoth of the moth-firefly mason group. Eaten by the spider mafia.
JEEP, Chinese Water Dragon of the bug eater mafia swallowed by a venus fly trap.
Comatose
Rubberduck, Suffering delusional dengue fever, wont be posting or voting today.
A very, very good night for Leafy Greens. 2 deaths - 1 Mafia, 1 townie, and 1 player in a coma.
There are 36 players alive, 1 in a coma. This means it will take 18 to squish. Good luck.
Amb signing off - this is now Quercitrons domain. It is day.

| Okay, fine. Believe what you will. You're wrong, though, once again. First about the (very real) lemon poppyseed muffins, then about my (nonexistant) violent tendancies, and now about the (very random) random vote. I even have reason to believe that you were wrong about the pronounciation of "fijord"... |
