I'd like to run a mafia. It will be called "The Maltese Pigeon." So far I have between 13 and 19 roles prepared, with no vanilla townies. I hope to run it after either Harry Potter 2 or With Hunt get done. Does this plan agree with everyone? _________________ smile |

| You can always start sign-ups earlier, but you're more likely to get a good response in player numbers if one or more games finish. Your plan seems solid. |

Yes. Usually when someone is ready to mod a game they will create a sign up thread announcing it. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Except for the dieing at the end and the heartbreak in between. |

| A side effect of the freemarket is that new mods might not get very many players to sign up. To be successful, it is almost required to play a few games first. |

The Excessively Bloody Affair of the Belgoody Mafia
Players: 13+ (flexable)
Moderators: Elayne, L'lanmal
Status: Ready
Starting: Soon
Teaser:
When Mr. Belgoody invites all the people he is blackmailing to dinner, it is no surprise he doesn't survive the night. That the guests are dying off one by one is what you are worried about.
Notable gameplay elements:
Rather than cops which investigate particiular players, there are detectives which can determine characteristics of the killer such as hair-color or height. These can be used to narrow the list of suspects... if the detectives can be trusted.
Personal attributes are public information, including "occupation" (such as Detective or Doctor).
(A combination of the Belgoody game of some years back with Mafia.)

Find the Body Mafia
Players: minimum of 12
Moderators: Mgm
Status: Planning in Progress
Starting: After "Witching Hour" finishes
The scum in this town is a little smarter than your regular run-of-the-mill scum. They hide the bodies of the dead and you need to find them in order to identify them. It'll take all your scum-catching skill to give this a happy end. |

That would be freaking funny. Mith would me mayor, IS would be the mafia godfather, LoudmouthLee would be the investigator, and Mathgrant would use his RAF scenarios to vig-kill. CV could use his Alpha Oscar Kilo comics to distract players (role-blocker). _________________ smile |

| It was funny -- one of the roles was Neo, and when he died, a new thread was started with a new mod. Very confusing for us, but also amusing in retrospect. You can see the exact moment we figured out what was going on. |

I've been thinking about a Homestar Runner mafia for ~12 people, but I've never modded one before, plus I don't know if anybody even likes HSR. And there seem to be a lot of games going on right now.
So I was wondering if there might be any interest, and if so, would anyone mind co-modding with me? Should I maybe start a thread about it and just see if it flops?
Thanks. |

Deep South Science Mafia.
Set in the Antartic, a team of scientists is battling to come to grips with Global Warming and its effects. The science of Antarctica is of extreme importance to the survival of the world, but it has recently become known that some scientists have been paid out by large conglomerates to ruin the expedition and save the purses of the rich instead. Scotts base never looked so bloody.
This is a game that will have a fundamentally different mechanism to normal mafia. I wont say too much, the mechanism difference wont be announced until the game starts. (Dont ask too many questions here, you might give my secrets away unintentionally )
At this stage I intend to open sign ups at the end of my current Time Travel Mafia. |

You could call it "The Thing".
If I remember correctly, "The Thing" was the name of a 50s or so B horror film about scientists in the antarctic who stumble upon a space-ship outside of a greenhouse (in the antarctic (=B). The members of the expedition start disappearing, and their dessicated bodies are later found in the greenhouse. It turns out that the alien is a giant vegetable that feeds on meat, and can only be killed by electricity, or something like that. _________________ 2500th member give or take 3 |

DEEP SOUTH PREVIEW
Story
Several teams of scientists, specialists and crew have arrived in Antarctica under urgency to review the climatic changes of the Icy Continent. During routine checks they notice that some of the experiments and geological surveys were giving unexpected results. Investigations show that the figures were being altered and the real results deleted.
Then there was an accident. One of the crew was badly injured by a mechanical ice drill. The injuries were too severe to survive. And on his deathbed, he admitted being paid to throw off the scientific research by conglomerates, who would be affected badly if the news was not good. He also admitted there were those paid off to kill, but before he could dob them in, he died.
----------------------------------
Welcome to Scotts Base Antarctica. A cold reception waits you, but rest assured, its summer here. And in the antartic summer the sun doesnt set.
Rules
This is a non standard Mafia game. There is no concept of night.
The game works like this. The game is broken up into "choice blocks". During a "choice block" the town will be voting to lynch. If after 7 days, no lynch is made, the next "Choice block" begins. If a lynch is made, the new "choice block" begins instantly from the Mod post announcing the success. If a choice block ends prematurely, I will announce this. There will be no extensions, but I do reserve the right to shorten the choice block if conversation is dropping.
During a choice block skilled players will be allowed to make their choice at any time. So a cop like role might wait until conversation is full swing, whereas a serial killer might hit someone out straight away. Be aware that a death before a lynch COULD change the number of votes required to complete the lynch. The choices will be made in the order I have them in my PM Box. If you miss your choice block, because a lynch finished faster than you could get on - too bad.
All players with choice based roles will have their abilities spelled out to them. For example, a doctor type role (provided there are any) might be able to prevent an attack after it is announced, or they might have to try and pre-guess the mafia.
There is an account called "Intercom" being created for this game. I will control this, but what is said in it can be triggered by one or more roles.
Mafia and Mason type Groups may communicate freely during the day. There is scope built into some roles to initiate full communications between two players. Full communications cease at the end of each choice block. (Excluding Mafia and Mason groups) You cannot initiate communication outside the thread unless your role specifically allows it.
I do not guarantee the existence of any role mentioned in the rules, I was writing the rules before I finished working out what should be in the game.
End Preview
Obviously Im still tweaking and changing. Any input appreciated. If its input that might affect game play too much please PM me. |

After Missing Body Mafia finishes I'll be running Doctor Who 2005 Mafia. Your favorite characters from the Christopher Ecclestone season will be present once more for a final lethal battle.

Status: Role tweaking
Starting: After "Missing Body Mafia" finishes |

Outbreak Mafia
Players: 11 (because of the speed of infection; many may quickly die)
Moderators: Ctorj (with DP as my advisor)
Status: Starting.
Starting: 7/28/05
This will be based on the 1995 movie "Outbreak" where mafia, townies, cops, doctors galore (maybe), government scum and viruses (yeech!!) all vie for the title of victor. This will be a somewhat fast paced game due to the speed of the infection. There will be many interesting skills for everyone.
7/21/2005 Update: I am done with all the details!! However, I would like a co-mod to assist me at this time. Let me know soon. Otherwise, I'll just start sign-ups and hope for the best.
7/23/2005 Update: I have reduced the count from 25 to 12 and took out some roles. Should make things more interesting.
7/24/2005 Update: I rented the movie last night and I can give you a sneak preview of the story:
In the quiet town of Cedar Creek, California, all is not well. A deadly virus, labeled the Motaba virus because it was first discovered in Motaba, Zaire in Africa in 1967, has emerged in this quiet little California Mountain village. As the doctors, military and civilian run about to stop it, shocking events begin to unfold themselves. Someone has died! And not from the virus either. It was a gun shot wound! Who could have done this?
7/25/05 Update: I put 2 roles back in for purposes of balance.
7/26/05 Update: Via Dp's advice, the final count will be 11 roles. One left!
That's it for now! Sign up to know the whole story!
Also, I'd like to thank DP for helping me out a little with this. _________________ "Love is the absolute expression of the human perfection" -Me!

Not on Grey Labyrinth. You just post an announcement, and if your popular enough, people sign up.
I have been writing the scheme for Economafia - one where if you run out of money you are out of the game... And you have to buy protection, or pay investigators etc... I dont know that I want to run it or not yet - because the what ifs are too mind boggling (What if the doctors all die N1, what happens to money on death etc)... |
