How should the symbol next to the thread topics look like?
Personally, the pages look bland, and the shaking pages for the popular pages annoy me.
Down here were some lightbulbs, but now they're gone. _________________ 1000oclock.com

| Actually, mudbuck's proposal ain't bad at all. Perhaps they could be a smidgeon smaller, but it's otherwise fine. |

Vote: no animated icons WHATSOEVER for any of the thread types (active, inactive, new, old, popular etc).
It might just be me, but I find ANY animated thingee on a page very ANNOYING and DISTRACTING. |

I don't like too many flashing or moving icons. With the number of threads we see, I'd rather see none.
How about one icon for no new posts, another for new posts, and if you must distinguish between popular or not, perhaps a simple exclamation point icon after the post icon. _________________ Shun the unbeliever... SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN-NUH |

I think a good indication of popularity is the number of pages. Personally, I don't care how popular a topic is - if it doesn't interest me I won't read it. Every mafia thread is popular, but I'll only read the ones I'm in - and not because they're popular.
But, the files and the light bulbs are a bit boring. Since icons can apparently be almost anything, why not something a bit more GL-related? |

| The threads that have been updated since the last time I read them should be lit up and the ones in which my screen name has been mentioned since then should be blinking. |

folders is fine for me.
popularity can be based on, the thread wasnt there yesterdaym it now has 300 posts, hmmmm, theres no lightbulb telling me its popular........
its not hard to see a thread has 300 posts, we dont need a blinking light to tell us that. _________________ oh hello |

| Shouldn't a popular Thread be based on Views, not Posts? If a Thread is popular, it's highly trafficked, which includes just looking at it. |

In fact, if I could have anything it would be an Icon that says "You have posted here. And now there's a new post!" So that I can keep track of the changes in Threads that I'm actually active in. Some of us have short memories, or none at all!
I know it's a separate topic, but I'm not sure where else to put it? |

I think there should be a number of different icons that can be changed by the starter of a thread. That way we can have "unsolved" and "solved" puzzles in VSP, or indicate whether a game is in signup mode or in progress or over...
Requires an addition to the database as well as changing the new thread/edit post screen so I think I'll repost this in FR later, but it's something to keep in mind... |

No, it doesn't. There's a feature called "post icons", whose original purpose is to have crappy things like a thumbs up or a frown next to your posts, to "indicate the spirit of the post". It's turned off atm, but we could easily turn it on and use it to indicate such things. Great idea.

| Or the titles could be edited to reflect that? I don't want to see little pictures next to topics. |

Guh. Those folders will make the site look old and outdated. I think the pages are fine, so long as they stop moving. _________________ Space for sale. PM i_h8_evil_stuff for details. |

Wow, so, no comment on the "you have posted in this thread and there is now a new post in the thread you may be interested in" icon?
Did I post that in invisitext? Hello? Can anyone hear me?
I don't think the "popular thread" thing is of any importance whatsoever. Who cares? It really doesn't matter and is misleading most of the time. If the icon should change colors for anything, it should be something else.
So, I haven't voted yet and would like to know if anyone else has an opinion on this one. In fact, I think this is the topic I feel most interested in...let's get some more discussion on the matter! |

Well, you can always do an egosearch...
On the index, click the "view your posts" link at the top right corner (below the header stuff and above the category listings).
