Well today marks the 35th aniversary of the day that a Man walked on the Moon. This also has been a subject of much controversy since the time it has happened. Did Man really walk on the Moon? I believe that He has, but I can't help in being a little skeptical about the whole thing.

Here is a good site, albeit a little old to decide for yourself:
http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html

This man believes Man has walked on the Moon, but at least he presents both sides of the argument.

There is some cool stuff on this link: http://www.iangoddard.net/moon01.htm

(You can get to it from the link you posted but it's really cool and deserves its own post.)

Vader: I applaud you for having a skeptical attitude; skepticism is a good thing, in general.

However, being skeptical doesn't mean being even-handed when weighing the claims of two opposing positions. It means giving those claims the weight they deserve.

In this case, we have people that make an extraordinary claim: that the moon landing was a hoax. An extraordinary claim requires extraordinary evidence. Instead, the evidence put forward is not only non-extraordinary, it is, for the most part, based on fundamental misunderstandings of physics. In fact, a number of the points made (the movement and disposition of moon dust comes to mind) rely on the misapprehension that things on the moon -- in an airless environment -- happen the same way that they do on the Earth. The fact that things happen differently supports the fact that Moon landings are real. So all moon-hoaxers have are nonsensical assertions.

So why on Earth (ha!) would you lend these moon-hoxing assertions any credence at all?

Here, let's try an experiment:

I claim that grass is not really green. My proof?
1. Scientists claim that grass is green because of "clorophyll". Yet there is no proof that clorophyll exists.
2. Suppose, though, that clorophyll exists. If it's in live grass, then it must be in dead grass (since matter can be neither created nor destroyed). Yet dead grass is brown, so therefore all grass must be brown.
3. Green is a secondary color on the color wheel, and is made from yellow and blue. Thus, at best, grass is yellowish-blue.
4. The Earth's atmosphere selectively filters out certain wavelengths of light -- that's why the sky is blue. Blue is close to green, so grass can't be green.
5. Grass grows in the dirt, and needs water to grow. Neither dirt nor water is green, so grass can't be green.
6. And I could go on, but you get the picture...

Are you now "skeptical about the whole thing" -- the ridiculous idea that grass is green?

Zut-I believe that Man has walked on the Moon. I understand why there can be doubt, no matter how foolish it may be. That is all I am saying.

I like your argument it was clever.

I am just a natural skeptic on certain things is all. Like religion, the JFK assasination, those are just two examples there are many things that the voices tell me to doubt Almost Fonz Cool

Seriously though I believe that people should always question what is considered fact and what is not. If people never questioned anything we would still be living on a flat planet and be the center of the universe or wait maybe we are Confused

Zut, nice post, and I can't agree more with how the idea of a moon hoax even lingers today is because of people's misconception of things.

Wasn't the whole moon hoax origin based on some political satire that was believed by some gullible people and then blown out of proportion?
