I have a system now. The fractals are devided into "months" but I do not always updated the currect day.
June | July | August | September | October | November
There is a puzzle that is slowly being created in invisible text. It will be devided into 7 parts in theory. Most parts can be solved right now. The goal of this puzzle is to be -very- difficult.
Thanks for GLpics Hy. I could upload all year and never fill up my space!
NOTE: All the links on this page may not work! They may have a chance if you change occurences of "bg" to "lg" in the URL.
The larger 1024x768 graphics are being removed and updated. I keep the ones I like as long as possible. The index can be found here

actually I am replacing 0920,0914,0922,0927 and 0929 because I couldn't find the source files. I couldn't rerender those files...which means everything to me.
A Newton today.
something 1024X768
something else, same size.

the one in reply 6 is awesome... any chance you can get it in 1200x800? yeah, I know it's a weird resolution |

That one won't look good in 1200X800. How about the one in reply three instead? here

| Are all of those fractals from the Mandelbrot Set? Certainly the last few are, and the first couple look like they could be. |

mmm most have been Mandelbrots or from the related Julia set. But my program also does Ration, Newton and Halley types. The types are scattered though...I was listing the type in the last round. I should start this time too.
Mandelbrot (all fractals not listed here)
Julia
0813, 0815, 0819
| Quote: |
From the Fracal Domains Manual:
The famous Mandelbrot fractal, studied intensively by mathematicians and explored extensively by fractal enthusiasts all over the world. The Mandelbrot set is generated by iterating the formula
for each point c in the complex plane. The point is considered to be in the Mandelbrot set if the sequence of points generated in this manner is bounded. The Julia set corresponding to a point c is found by iterating the above equation, keeping c constant and letting z range over the complex plane. Again, if the orbit is bounded then the point z belongs to the Julia set. Every point in the Mandelbrot set corresponds a Julia set that is connected. |
Newton
0809, 0814, 0818, 0915, 0918, 0919, 0920, 0921, 0925, 0928, 0930
Rational
0811, 0906, 0907, 0908, 1015, 1016, 1017, 1018, 1019, 1020, 1021
Halley (OT=orbit trap)
0810, 0816-OT, 0916, 0924
For all the other fractals the explaination is just too bloody confusing.
Recent ones: reply 6: Julia set; reply 7: Newton. |

Probably off topic since these are not fractals but you can see some cool photomicrographs here along with lots of other cool stuff.
Some examples: Biotin, arganine, Castlemaine XXXX (for the aussies) and Budweiser Dry. |

0926 in 1024x768, if it's not too much trouble...

I have a fractal that looks neat, but its not really my work. It's straight from the tutorials.
It's 1200 by 800 (my desktop size) so sorry it it isn't compatible. The great thing was that it took 45 seconds to render. |

Whoops, the pic
http://www.glpics.com/aaron/Masked%20Julia.JPG
The problem is I just converted it from bmp to jpeg in paint.
The real file, that took 45 seconds to render is 3mb and looks much better. Just request it and I'll email it.
Edit: Sorry about the size thing. I uploaded the wrong file. Its just a link for now.

I think it would be better if scaled to 512X348
(I love seeing other's fractals) but you used too many orbit traps.
another Mandelbrot. |

What program are you using Sessie?
I am glad to see you confrom to my size of 512X348.
A relaxing Mandelbrot.
Lets see...1022 was the first one posted in this thread. 0923 was posted Sept 5...and the rest are unknowns. I am trying to upload every fractal into the 1024X768.

Meh, one more for the night. It kinda helps when the render only takes 5 minutes tops (thats for a 8 layer mammoth I made, with lots of detail, full anti aliasing, at 1200*800) and you have some spare time on your hands.
I'll try and make some more "scenic" ones a little later on, more like the Leaf.
But for now, you have absolute randomness to deal with.

It's called Fractal Forge...some freeware I downloaded a while ago.
And someone needs to teach me how to go about making them look like something on purpose, rather than clicking a bunch of buttons and saying "ooh! pretty!" like I do. _________________ "I have an everyday religion that works for me: love yourself first, and everything else falls into line." --Lucille Ball |

I mostly do the "oooh pretty" thing also. But I do understand the workings and how to clean up some images with my similar Fractal Domains (its much older I think)
Playing more with orbit traps. They are an entirely new world! Technically still Mandelbrot fractals.
