I appears I will be going to Tromso, Norway for a conference! The trip includes a 19 hour layover in Amsterdam on the way back. Felicitous

Now to make the presentation I have been avoiding for weeks because I thought I wasn't going to go... ugh.

We were playing a three-player game of Star Wars Risk. I was the Rebellion and only had to kill the Emperor who is hidden. I was sucking it up, and the Empire douche had plopped the nearly impregnable Death Star on top of the obviously-hidden Emperor.

Just then, I rechecked the rules and noticed I could attack the Death Star from an adjacent planet. I beat it on the first try, then mopped up his one defending troop for the win. It was awesome.

I am sitting by the pool at our hotel in the Sukhumvit district of Bangkok. We had the most excellent Indian food last night, though, so I don't sit for very long at a time. Not in a regular chair anyway.

I went birding in a nearby city park yesterday, and with a guide around Phuket last Thursday. We leave to return to the US tomorrow.

I have sold the non-exclusive right of one of my photographs for use in a brochure by a Singapore company. About 100$ - sweet.

I lost my wallet about an hour before leaving to New Zealand. In the airport I got a phone call from the person who found it. That was such a great relief. The only inconvenience was traveling with just a passport, debit card, and cash. The $500 that was inside was returned Felicitous

I gave her a mug that I had made. One of the joys of being good at making pottery is the endless supply of gifts!

Now go put a visible card with your name, address and phone number in your wallet.

4 months of work is represented in this image. This is a raw image (no post processing at all). It's a 10 second exposure at f/2, using an SBIG ST8300C on a 14" Celestron telescope.

This is the first image that is of something that's not a star (for focusing purposes). It's one of two new imaging setups for work.

Image linked because huge

2 minute exposure. At the bottom, the faint blue cloud is actually M43, so in this shot we’ve got two objects. Still a raw image.

This is M46, an open cluster. Near the center is a small planetary nebula, NGC2438. The nebula is not part of the cluster. This was a 30-second shot, also a raw image.

AFAIK it's not a star of public note.

And since I don't have anywhere to put this (I'm rather ambivalent about it): my credit card limit has been doubled. Apparently without warning or notification. I only noticed while paying the bill. I've had the card since mid-2007 and have paid it off completely every month without fail. This is the first adjustment to my limit.

if you have no need to use it, it's a good thing.. higher limit = lower utilization = higher credit score

I don't know anything about credit cards, but a higher limit strikes me as something the credit card companies wouldn't draw attention to, right?

Your forgot the second half of the image macro.

The date of announcement was deliberate, but the news is quite genuine. He was born on March 30, and as you can imagine the first couple of days were a bit hectic, so I figured I'll go with it Revenge most foul!
