I had forgotten about Invasion of the Body Snatchers with donald sutherland and that cute chick (was it brooke adams?) that played the role of boone's girlfriend, Katy in Animal House
For me, one of the most memorable moments in Body Snatchers was her rolling her eyes in circles to prove she wasn't crazy.
That movie was really good, like to see that again.
Since I only have 16 votes, I want to nominate a movie I just remembered.
A great story! and absolutely the most outstandingly excellent comedy music score ever! (Animal House was excellent also)
I know everyone will soon be using the handy edit feature when they're reminded of...

I will probably get laughed at for this but I like the easy watching films. Can I put European films in the list or will only English speaking films get listed? I will put a bit of a list up for the 20 but if I cannot list some then please tell me so.
1- Dagboek van een oude dwaas
2- Sleepless in Seattle
3- De Vierde Man
4- When Harry met Sally
5- Four weddings and a funeral
6- An officer and a gentleman
7- Udenrigskorrespondenten
8- Basic Instinct
9- From Dusk till Dawn
10- Himmel og helvede
11- Nikita
12- Erin Brockovich
13- Fiddler on the roof
14- Das Schreckliche Mädchen
15- De Dominee |

| The title Hoop Dreams just made me think of a movie I saw a while ago. It was about this white guy who goes to college, and he wants to test this theory that only black guys will make the basketball team, so he paints himself or something to look black, and I think he actually does get on the team. At some point in the movie his family is visiting while his coach is in the other room, so he has to keep switching. That really is all I remember - anyone know what it's called? |

English is my third language, so why should I translate something that does'nt need translating as it will become unrecogniseable from the origenal as it was. If a film in my country was called "Dagboek van een oude dwaas" why should I translate it to something that means nothing to anyone except the Dutch?
I could ask you to translate all the English nominations for me!
And thank you Travis and Evil Empire for listing "Udenrigskorrespondenten"

No it's just taken for granted here that everyone has to speak English whether thay are English speaking or not. There are a many members here who are not mainly English as their first language but to me it looks like you have to be English fluent to be recognised here. I know this is an American based forum with mainly American based and speak members, but the tollerence to non-English speakers seems poor to me. We do our best to communicate in a language that is not our own but get joked on and made fun of just because we might struggle with English translations.
If this is being run with only Ebnglish film titles the all be good, but I wont translate a titles that was made in Holland or Denmark or France or what just to enlarge the people who cannot accept foreign speakers. |

Apologies, Zesty if you took offense to that comment about polyglots. It was a weak joke but I guess I think the word "polyglot" is a funny word.
For someone like me with little knowledge of foreign language, some of the titles of your movies seem funny, but not in a way disrespectful to the languages. I didn't mean to be disrespectful or condescending. Apologies.

I hope you don't experience that here. Everyone would like it if you posted more often. I also think that most if not everyone here would like to share your fluency and knowledge of so many other languages. |

Zesty Spanker, English is currently the dominating language on the internet, and as such, should be practiced and perfected if one intends on communicating with people outside one's country. We could make the GL Hebrew-based, and then we'd have exactly three members (possibly four with ChienFou) or the three members could just try and learn English well enough to participate. Which is more sensible? _________________ After years of disappointment with get rich quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme. And quick! |
