just for the fact that Gweneth's charachter gets her head chopped off in the end. Oh, and Spacey was great for the part.

A more accurate question would be "why are opposed automatically opposed to anything with violence in it?". The violence in Se7en is important for the movie. If you took it out, the plot itself would lose a lot.

wow... interesting developments... Looks like this battle might get to be decided in the last minutes! Shocked ((it was 18-19 at the time of this post))

Ow, and to answer Antrax (although the doubled "opposed" makes his statement quite unintelligible): because there's enough of it in real life (or perhaps because the media in my country is using too much of it?)... When i watch a movie i'm supposed to enjoy myself. I guess that's why i'm always going to choose comedies over action flicks, like mostly any other nonviolent introvert out there.

Well, i never said i wasn't... Cannibal So read the above as "i'm always going to choose comedies over action flicks, like mostly any other nonviolent shallow introvert out there."

But you still haven't clarified things. What did you mean by "opposed automatically opposed" with no subject in that phrase?

wow, they're tied again! Revenge most foul! (19-19)

It looks like he was going for one of two things:

1. Why are you automatically opposed to anything with violence in it?

2. Why are you opposed automatically to anything with violence in it?

But somewhere along the way his brain decided to combine both of them, sacrificing the "you" to make room for the extra "opposed."

Well, in that case i am not automatically opposing anything with violence in it. In fact, i could still watch Hannibal and partially enjoy it. Just that it so happens that i get bored (at least i think it's boredom; it might be disgust, or even something else...) by many violent scenes, generally. Curiously, the brain scene didn't make me look away throughout its full length (only at its beginning), like i usually do at scenes involving blood or injury...

Btw, i didn't say that violence is not important. I didn't say "take it out and give us a General Attendance story of those facts". I am just dismayed by seeing many people drawn toward violent movies without other reasons than the violence itself. (For the record, this doesn't imply that 7 is bad!)

[edit]At the time of this post, N/NW had actually taken the lead... 20-22!

I wish I'd seen Se7en so I could vote. North by Northwest is one of my all time favorites so I don't know which way I would go... Se7en I hear is really good so I guess I just won't vote...again. tant pis. (french for "oh well")

I guess I'll have to see Se7en now.

I personally see nothing wrong voting when you like a movie despite having never seen the other.

Heck, I've voted without seeing either! Revenge most foul!

lol...honestly I did do that for some but that was when I was pretty sure of how I would or would not like the one I had not seen. With Se7en, I really don't want to prejudge it because I've heard really good things about it.
It is terribly tempting to vote anyway. but I won't.

Speaking of Shakespeare, I'm reading Macbeth in my English class and we just finished Act II. My favorite scene so far is Act I, Scene I (I think) with the Porter. He's supposed to be the comic relief, and despite his vulgarity-which added to the humor a little, IMO-it was a funny scene. I also here that the nurse in Romeo and Juliet was vulgar, but I wouldn't know.

Se7en rocks! Spacey, Freeman, and Pitt are three of my favorite actors.

I loved Macbeth when my class read it. I also enjoyed watching A Midsummer Night's Dream (Oberon was frieking SWEET!). Before senior year we had to read Othello. I didn't like it as much. In fact, I don't know if I even finished it, but I hate reading plays. With Macbeth our teacher really heped us through it, and I got to see Midsummer Night's Dream, and thus see what was happening instead of reading it. Plus, hearing the words makes it much easier to understand them than just reading them. At least for me.
