Die Hard had some trouble putting away Roger Rabit, while Princess Bride mowed down Hero. Who advances to round 3?

This is a tough decision. While Bride is a classic, Die Hard 1 was my favorite.
I'll go with Princess Bride. *crosses fingers* |

| Die Hard has to be one of my Favourite Bruce Willis movies and is always a classic to watch around Christmas, but my all-time fav has to be the Princess Bride. |

I'm playing the stupid "I'm-gonna-vote-against-something-cause-I-just-want-to-and-not-because-I-have-any-preference- or-I-like-it-or-I-think-it's-a-great-film-but-just-because-I-can-so-there" vote and voting against Princess Bride. I actually prefer Princess Bride but am voting against it just to see it lose.
Pah!
There, I've lowered myself to the depths of others.

| Wow, The Princess Bride is losing. Don't even know how I feel about that, even though I voted for it and the Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorites. But still, I loved Die Hard and it is one of the classic action movies. |

May I ask why everyone thinks the Princess Bride is the greatest film ever? What did you find wonderful and enlightening about it?
I myself thought it was an ok storyline performed by ok actors/actresses, nothing extra special about it though, imho, to mark this much excitement. |

| At this point that hardly matters. Princess Bride got 12 and Die Hard got 4. With both having over 30 votes, those nominations mean nothing. |

Samadhi,
your attempt at sarcasm is lost on me I'm afraid. Answering a valid question with a similar question, changed to try to make me look an idiot, is pointless.
I'm referring to lots of 'Princess Bride' references in general on the GL, also several members who praise the hell out of it. No-where has there been (to my knowledge anyway) anywhere as near as many 'Die Hard I' references, if any actually, posted, hence my serious question. |

Aga, can you edit your post with all the dashes lines? It's messing up the page width.
To answer your question: I liked Princess Bride. I don't think it's the best movie EVER, but parts of it are very memorable. I nominated it not solely based on its story, but also based on what it reminds me of. During senior year of high school my friends and I talked about it a lot - mostly quoting it and the book. Since senior year was the last year all of us were together, it reminds me of all of them at once. That's what makes it one of my top 20 movies. However, I'm sure my feelings are somewhat in the minority, so I'm hardly representative of the group.

And Jedi.
Some of my best friends and I quote that movie all the time. One friend in particular wrote down the choreography for the sword fight between Inigo and Westley, and we attempted to recreate it. It didn't work out, but we often reminisce about it. |

Personally, I've not seen it that many times. The first time i saw it, i was alone, so it wasn't a friends thing. I still voted for it over Die Hard. Die Hard is a great action film, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't anything special, or even terribly original as the script/plot itself is concerned. The acting was good, and the effects were good.
Princess Bride is a great comedy, largely because it's not your run of the mill sort of comedy. It has memorable characters, memorable lines, offbeat humour, and an amusingly irreverent attitude toward traditional fairy tale plotlines. It's entertainment, comedy, and good at what it does.
So i'd put both of them in the same sort of class: Good films that did what they intended to do and are entertaining. Neither is particularly deep nor awe-inspiringly acute, but when it comes down to it, I enjoyed watching Princess Bride far more than watching Die Hard, and would enjoy watching it multiple times, something I personally cannot say for Die Hard. _________________ Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? |

"TPB was ahead about 6 hours ago. Why call it now?"
Because I was asleep at that time. Besides, there's no way that could be true.
When I updated yesterday morning they were tied at 40. When I went to bed it was 41-40. And when I got up this morning it was 42-40. |
