My day was just weird. There were some good point, and there were some bad points. About as middle-of-the-road as you can get without being in the road and hit by a truck.

Oh yeah, page 2

My day is going far too well. And I don't seem to know how to process this.

I got what I wanted from the music dept (independent study type thing, but i m not sure how it s going to work), tony deritis turned out to be quite nice (and helpful) in person, I got taken out to lunch by my boss, and i get to go to maine tonight instead of tomorrow.

And i just feel like bursting into tears. Gosh hormones are screwy.

thus i am middle of the road.

And the word for today is... meh.

Friend's birthday, which is amazingly fun and cool and an excuse to chat, but I know I'm going to be so tired, and I have so much college work to finish this weekend. Again I say: meh.

My day is probably more bad than good, but we'll do some math.

SAT this morning=bad
Finishing the SAT=good
Doing and English college project=bad
Going to an arena football game=good

Yeah, pretty middle-of-the-road.

I've gotten to spend the past bunch of days with both my sisters, and my older sister's fiance and kid. That's good!
The aforementioned family group all had a violent and quite contagious stomach bug at the time. That's bad.

I've been doing great, health-wise! That's good.
The rest of my family has been sick with this evil virus thing... that's bad.
I go back to work today! That's good!
I got absolutely no sleep last night (not for lack of trying). That's bad.
I still feel perky enough to go in to work. That's good.
When I gave up trying to sleep and jumped in the shower, I felt suddenly and powerfully nauseated... that's bad.
If I get any worse within the next hour, I'll call in sick. Considering how tired I am, that's good.
But it's my last shift of this week, depriving me of a delicious paycheck on account of my having been out of town. That's bad.
But on the flipside, it's my last shift of the week - I have an exceptionally rare three days in a row off, plus today if I take it! That's good!
I have the horrible feeling I will spend two of said four days puking and crapping my guts out. That's very bad.

So.... " Neutral "

Whereas technically it is you who is of the RSA clan. =)

I had a nice day at work, and a very nice lunch, but I don't seem able to help a friend who's going through tough times. It's my fault, I was a bitch when he did want to talk.

Plus I still miss word.

But dang, lunch sure was nice.

I've been considering spending my life working with kids. All manner of kids, but troubled ones especially. This past week, I felt like I made a difference in the life of one, but it took a ton out of me, and now I just feel emotionally drained.

I was working my usual job at a restaurant last night. When I arrived, the power had been out for about two hours, and we were working by candle-light in the kitchen. I'm just the food-runner, and since we had few customers, there was little that I needed to do. I'd come up with the bright idea of bringing my portable dvd player that day so that I could play Wagner's Ring Cycle, 'cause everybody loves listening to Wagner in the kitchen. Anyhow, while the guy that I work with in the kitchen enjoyed it a lot, everybody else was in pain over the harsh vocal and orchestral work. I turned it off at the request of a superior.

But that's not what I'm here to tell you about. I'm going to tell you about two girls. I'm doing my usual food-runner job, running food to the few customers that we had in the black-out, when I get an order for an outdoor table. When I get outside, I notice that it's for these two girls, both extremely pretty. That in itself isn't the greatest thing, but these were some of the most gregarious, bubbly girls that I've ever known. Even before I've set the food down, I've turned on my flirtatious charms, and am casually chatting. "Are you eating here because the power's out?" "Oh, yes, the atmosphere is much different on a normal day." "Where are you from?" And they were just as talkative. I was having a great time chatting, but eventually had to go back in to return to my duties. In the next half-hour, I made sure to go outside to refill their waters and chat some more a couple of times.

Now, people usually leave after they've finished eating, but not these two. The power was out at their home, so they decided to stay at Bojhanic much longer than most. When the power returned, they came inside, sat by the bar, and listened to the band (the band had almost left because they couldn't play without electricity). Once the power came back on, business picked up dramatically. I was rushing back and forth, carrying thalli platters and plates of food. Whenever I passed the bar, the two of them would look at the food, and I could hear them saying how delicious it looked. But there was more food to run, so I couldn't chat with them. I was looking forward to a lull so that I could chat some more, when a waiter and I were pulled aside by our manager. With stern looks and a harsh voice she informed us that we had duties to perform and could not waste our precious time flirting with girls. I took this to heart, and focused entirely on my job, only giving passing glances to the two at the bar. Everytime I passed the bar, I noticed the waiter deep in conversation with them. But I could not join him. There was food to run and tables to clear. How I envied him that day. They must have been there for at least two hours, and he spent much of it entertaining them. While my manager said that she was "proud" of the way I started focusing, I half wished that I had dropped it all and joined my friend the waiter.

Conclusion:

Spent portion of 1/2 hour without power flirting with the two girls: good
Spent next 1 1/2 hour running food with the imposition of no flirting firm in my mind: bad

My baby bunny appeared to be sick yesterday, so we took him to the vet. She said to give him more hay and some yogurt. Today he seemed worse, so we took him back, and a different vet put him on antibiotics, and he seems to be a bit more lively.

I just read my work email, and was notified that the program I did reporting for had it's last day Friday. So this means I will at best get reduced hours, more likely no job. But that means I don't have to put up with them anymore either. (which everyone at jeepcon knows I hate). So...meh.

I was feeling pretty good about myself as I neared the completion of installing a replacement garbage disposal. The last step is to connect the dishwasher drain hose to the side of the unit. That's when I discovered that the hose has a 1 inch connector with a hose clamp, but the disposal requires a 7/8 inch connector. And it was nearly 9 PM, so the local Home Depot was closed. I'll stop by on the way home for an adapter.

So I went to the Comicon for the first time yesterday. One of the main reasons was that Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz were there (brunette overload). So I got in and worked my way close to the front (NP was about half done by the time I got in). Finally I had a good angle to take a good picture of NP and the battery light on my camera came on and blackness. Arrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!

Forget leaving to buy some, the line to get in was terrible. So I sat down instead. Didn't hear much of what she said but she was pretty. Rachel Weisz was cool, she was up there Darren Aronofsky who directed her in the upcoming film The Fountain.

A funny moment was when RW was asked what method she uses to get into character. She said she didn't have one and started just going over how great it was to play the character. She started describing some of the things she was able to do, and then she said, "Oh, was I supposed to say that?" And DA very deadpan says "No"

Very enjoyable, but I can't believe my camera betrayed me.

Some crazy guy injected me with some weird stuff and when I awoke I found four of teeth have been stolen! Egad! I wonder to what nefarious means my poor little dental nuggets are being kidnapped and used! This happened on tuesday, but I was reminded just now by having to brush my teeth lightly and still gargling out blood. Then there is also the fact that in the night I drooled out some sappy sanguine, saliva substance that left a mottled bit of modern art on my sheets for my awakening. How pleasant.I warn you now tooth theif!, when I find you...well...I will probably thank you for taking out some kamikaze teeth hellbent on mass mouth destruction. Oh, but the glare you will receive...

I was driving home and saw this guy walk into the middle of a busy road and just sit down. We pulled over and I went and talked to this guy in the middle of the road to try and get him to come off the road. He refused and said he wanted to get run over. Meanwhile cars were stopping all around us and someone called the police who drove up, handcuffed him and took him away.

I ran in a marathon today.

Well, a few meters of it. I wanted to cross its route whilst bicycling so I got off the bike figuring I could accerlate more quickly on foot when there was a gap between runners. There were too many runners, though, and police guarding the intersection so I pushed the bike halfway to the next intersection to avoid the cops. Then I ran along side the marathon whilst pushing the bike and merged into the race, moved across it, and got out.

None of the runners yelled at me. The last time I cut across a race someone yelled at me to get out of the way even though there was a big gap between runners and no danger of a collision.

So, yes, that made me temporarily midde of the road.

I used to play Dark Age of Camelot a lot but quit a year ago when I started going back to school. In the game, I had a house with a merchant and threw a bunch of money on him before I quit. The rent due each week comes out of a lockbox or if empty, the merchant. I just got an email telling me that I need to cover the rent in 7 days or I'll lose my house.

Meh. I don't want to start playing again but I don't want to lose my house.

1) my parents' ages really hit me during their visit (mom:70; dad: 75).

but the time spent with them (and my special brother) was more pleasant than any i can remember.

2) one of my sister's made me ball in public...she was telling how she was sad this last birthday b/c her children/husband didn't do anything special (i'm sure a lack of birthday phone calls *guilty* didn't help). she said she told mom about it and mom told her a 30+ year-old story where mom had gone to visit her sister who's breast cancer had metastasized just before my sister's b/d. my aunt told mom to go home and be there for the birthday b/c there was nothing left to do. mom did and coincidentally my aunt died on the birthday. mom kept the story from sister to protect her birthday and keep it special, but explained that if she'd ever seemed sad on her birthday, that was why.
