I recently heard a Car Talk puzzle that was pretty much the same as one of the few puzzles I have posted here. And while I am sure that the person who submitted it thought of it themselves, I would still like to prove to my family that I can be mildly clever at times.

Except the thread does not show up when I search for it. I think I posted it 1.5-2 years ago. Could it still be archived somewhere?

The search function doesn't search threads from before the switch to phpBB, even though they're still in the same place and condition as ever. That's probably the reason it doesn't show up when you use the search.

Until the admins get around to indexing the older threads for the search, you can find your posts from before the switch by going to your profile and clicking on "View all posts by The Sapient", or by browsing the forum in the usual manner.

Thanks. I still can't find it. I wonder if I posted it as a Quicky, or in some other name changeing thread.

Oh well......

It shouldn't have been pruned. 1.5-2 years ago places it around mid-2003 to early 2004. VSP threads go back to early 2002. What do you think you might have titled the puzzle if it's in its own thread? If I find time to look through threads, how will I recognize this puzzle?

Looking back at all my posts, I think I may be underestimating how long ago I posted it. It may have been early 2002? I just don't know.

The puzzle itself was about the same as this

http://www.cartalk.com/content/puzzler/transcripts/200524/index.html

Someone else posted a much harder version sometime in 2004.

I remember that one! Half of me wants to say I remember it somewhat more recently, like within two years, and the other half of me thinks the first half doesn't know what it's talking about.

I actually already re-indexed everything, and the search function still fails. This is one of those things I'll have to look into when the semester ends, meaning late July.

As many "classic" threads as I could find are listed in the Read this first thread in OT, in case there are others you're wondering about.
