Seeing as bots repeatedly register with offensive material linked as their homepage URL, I thought this may be a good idea.
The cons, as I see them, are:
a) Some members really do have home pages they link to from their profiles. For example, Chuck.
b) This may be redundant - we are upgrading to a new version of phpBB today or tomorrow, one which will require registration confirmation (the visual thingie where you have to type what letters you see on-screen), which makes it much harder for bots to register.

It's not a mod, it's an upgrade to the board version, meant to address some vulnerabilities in the code.

Antrax, did you or anyone test to ensure that the registration patches that were supposed to be in stalled with 2.0.11 (but failed) got installed this time?
