Random Lynch mafia shaped up to be a lot of fun (till I got night-killed *shakes fist*), so I thought this would be an interesting idea.

1. The days would be as short as 3 RL days or as long as 10 (probably, maybe 12?).

2. The deadlines would be Hard and Fast, they will not be extended. Ever.

3. Saturday and Sunday together count as 1 day (I'll try to make dawn as convenient as possible, i.e. Mondays).

4. For those of you who think this game favors the mafia...well, it won't. As long as we have an active town, which brings me to my next point...

5. Try to sign up only if you are going to be able to check the thread and post often. If the day is only 2 RL days long, it gets kind of dangerous because...

6. I am still deciding the lynching procedure. I am tempted to ban no-lynch, to keep it interesting (i.e. to prevent stalling for longer days), but I have not made a decision yet. If I ban no-lynch, one vote will do the trick, and if no one is voting, someone will be selected randomly to die.

I realize banning no-lynch is another advantage to the mafia, but if someone will die randomly without votes, it's not good for them either (I'll also balance the game best I can). Hopefully this new dynamic will work.

There will probably be other general rules once the game begins. Comments on rules welcome.

What if every day you select someone at random and tell us that if there are no votes, that person will be lynched? I think that adds something -- if you feel like A is slightly suspicious, but feel that B is probably innocent, you're more likely to vote for A to save randomly-chosen B from dying.

Are we going to know the deadlines?

Actually, Courk I was going to make another Random Lynch # mafia game after the first one finished. I would fix my errors and make the game MUCH bigger. Meanwhile, I will gladly join your game. Enthusiastic Grin

I was thinking if this goes well, then perhaps a game where the lynch number is random AND the deadline is random. We'll see. Extreme Delectation

And Courk, it's a good idea, but I feel like it adds too much. Simply having someone dying at random should be interesting because everyone thinks their neck is on the line. If you announce who's going to die, the rest of the town will get too relaxed. Wink

I plan on still running this, expect a PM for when. My move to Brooklyn/Job has caused most of the delay. Plus I was hoping random-lynch would end first, which actually, should only be a couple hours now.

I think I'll actually make the minimum day to be 3 days though. If days are 2 RL days long it's more like the game is playing you.

Ill have a go. Dont ban no lynch. We might not want to play it, but to not have it biases the game toward mafia who might in an end game scenario try to force a low vote count to kill off a player.

At 11 to 1, I'd say banning no-lynch is a *good* thing.

The problem with no lynch is that you can keep doing it over and over and over as the cops go looking for mafia. It biases the game too heavily in town's favor. It's great when you're town, so it's always scummy to not support it, but the game would be more fun if it weren't allowed.

In this game sitch it would probably be more pro mafia than anything - but I can see where it could come unstuck for mafia too. Dont forget I am a big fan of No Lynch in normal mafia, and I probably was that solitary vote back way beyond....
