Welcome to the largest version of Monopoly ever! Unfortunately, it won't be as good-natured as it might usually be. The mafia are in town and they desperately want control of the board, and the money. Can the town pull together and eradicate them?

Rules (stolen from DP):
[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mod, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so and then only in the game's nights.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If not, a random choice will be made for the first night, and no choice for subsequent nights.
[04] No quoting my or others emails/PMs.
[05] If you're dead, YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that. The same is true for if you are in jail.
[06] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Please clearly unvote if you want to change your vote.
[07] Do NOT edit or delete your posts! If you made a coding error, just post again. Do NOT post in invisible text.
[08] If you know you will be absent for say 72 hours or more, please post in the thread to that effect or let me know by a message if the thread is in the night phase.
[09] You are not allowed to quote or paraphrase your winning condition, unless you want to risk a modslaying.
[10] The mod is always right. Accept the decisions, and if you want to discuss them, take it to email, or do so after the game has finished.
[11] Have fun and be greedy!
Special rules and notes:
[01] At the beginning of each day, four random properties will be available for purchase. Each player will PM me as to which property they would like to try and purchase. This will be run silent auction style where each person will send me the name of the property and how much they are willing to pay. At the end of the day, I will announce which properties were purchased and for how much, and the remaining properties will be recycled to the next day along with replacements for the purchased properties. The player(s) who purchased the properties will not be announced.
[02] The key to this game is the properties. If a group of players collectively gets a monopoly, one of the players that contributed to the monopoly will receive a random upgrade based upon how many properties they had. (One property gives a 33% chance of getting the upgrade, two properties gives a 67% chance of getting the upgrade, and owning the entire monopoly alone ensures you get the upgrade. This changes in the case of two-property monopolies accordingly.) Once a monopoly is achieved, the properties will be taken from the game.
[03] Instead of lynches in this game, people will be thrown in jail, but it will still take a majority of votes to put them there. However, their roles will not be revealed when they are thrown in jail because there is a possibility for release. In addition, not one but two people will be jailed each day: the person who reached lynch numbers and the runner-up. The following day, the option will be presented for one person to get out, but there will be a separate vote to determine who will be bailed. This will work by submitting a bail ??? vote. The bail amount will be announced at the beginning of the day, and people may join together to bail them or someone may foot the bill alone. In order to bail the person voted, people will PM the mod saying they will contribute to the bail. If someone wishes to pay it alone, their choice will be priority. Of course, the people who helped bail them will be announced. Those who are not bailed will be lynched.
[04] When people are killed, their money and properties will be distributed in a specific way for each occasion. In the case of lynches, the properties are randomly distributed among the townies and the money is distributed evenly among all players. In the case of mafia kills, they will receive the properties, but how much money they get off the kill will be based on a dice roll. What they don’t collect is distributed among the town.
[05] There is always the option to sell properties back to the bank for some much needed cash, though you will only receive half of the original price of what was paid for it. This may be done at night, if necessary.
[06] At the start of each day, a D6 (six-sided die) will be rolled for each player. Once a player has surpassed a total of 10 with the cumulative die rolls, that player is said to have “passed GO” and will collect $200.
New Rule![07] During the night, each player has the capability to transfer money or properties to another player if they wish. This is of course at their own RISK. However, there is a $20 transfer fee that will be added to the "taxes" when this happens.

[Since one property might be ‘bought’ by everyone, it will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.]
Time zones would be a problem here. A player could miss out just by not being on at compatible times. Why not the largest bidder etc? |

Did you want to pay $400 dollars for a $60 property? I'll consider your inquiry and deliver my decision shortly. |

(emphasis mine)
This implies we can only bid on one property. Is that the case?
I assume we can't bid our total bankroll on each property up for bid (for example bidding $300 on all four properties when my bankroll is $300), but is it (for example) possible to bid $150 on one property, and $75 on two others if my bankroll is $300? _________________ And he lived happily ever after. The counsel will meet sometime today and determine the correct course of action to be taken. The Head Counsel already has some idea which way to go, but as long as he has an advisor, he might as well use him.
Talzor, yes, I will do that for you. |

Half of what the player originally paid.

Is the "upgrade" lost if the monopoly is lost?
E.g. player 1, 2 and 3 jointly owns the green squares and player 1 receives an upgrade. If later player 2 is killed or sells his square does player 1 lose his upgrade?
Also may people in jail still communicate with the other players? do he still get a vote?
PS: Sorry about all the questions , I'll stop now, but new rules almost always needs clarification. |

Don't worry about all the questions. It's necessary because groza and I couldn't think of everything. Fortunately, we did think of this. The way it will work, is once a monopoly is created, those properties merely disappear from the game. Of course, it's a double-edged sword because while the upgrade can't be lost, the properties cannot then be sold.
I will announce when a monopoly has been made, that way the town will know that an upgrade has been created. They won't know which side go it though. |

Because of the amount of new rules to process and the need for perhaps different strategies than normal, a deadline is being set to allow more time for this. If you have a choice, please try to send it by Wednesday, February 1 @ 11:59 GMT. If you need more time, please PM me.
If you don't have a choice, please continue to be patient. I want to start just as bad as you do. |

Vote:Frtizler for being the first to attempt a bandwagon so early in the day.
Is anyone else finding "Marvin Gardens" a suspicious name for a player in this game? First I thought he was a newbie with an interest in Monopoly who decided to try mafia, but apparently he's got a title as well. Where was that ever discussed?
I'm suspecting he's a role account for another existing player, or perhaps another mod-controlled character like the one in Odd Mafia. |

Random Vote: Iammars, because he's one of the only players I recognize who doesn't have a vote on him yet.
And also... was anybody else robbed besides me? Somebody took a substantial amount of my money last night. I just think I am an especially odd target, seeing as I have never played a game on the GL forums before. |
