New regular member titles?

Ideas?

I was going to make this a poll, but realized you couldn't vote for more than one.

So far, Ariadnean Member was suggested at some number of posts like 400 or 1000 or something.

I like it the way it is. Why add a new title level at 400 posts? If someone wants whatever as their title, they can ask for it.

i don't care for a more hierarchical system. i always liked the idea that everyone here was pretty much equal (ignoring the relative few w/ mod powers). the icarian title is more like a grace period where you could do something annoying and not get squashed for it.

I agree with both courk and worm. However.

In general, people don't ask for titles, they're given them. In fact, the general theme seems to frown on people actually asking for a title. Ergo, if someone having a custom title isn't hierarchal, I don't know what is.

Talzor- it is not hard to cross post with one of your own usernames. You just have to have two browsers open and be logged under different names.

Then what about seeing both of us online at the same time (in the Registered Users bar in the bottom of the forum page). As far as I know a schizophrenic can only maitain a single identity at a time and switches are usually not that fast.

I don't see that much of a point, but will be indifferent if it happens.

I think "Ariadnean" is already taken by the mods though, yes? Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, if we wish to further encourage the "we're all equal" vibe.

you sure she's not just asking for a reason or evidence of this "frowning"?

i think the reason's related to asking for a nickname. you can't just give yourself a nickname. somebody has to give it to you. i can't explain why that is...it just is.

i haven't looked that hard for examples of the alleged frowning, but it seems plenty of people have come out and said "gimme a title" or "gimme a new title" and they always get one. maybe it's only if you ask for a specific title

Actually, I got reamed when I first asked for a title. I didn't know how it worked, but I sure didn't ask for a title again.

Thanks, worm, for understanding what I was asking.

I guess I just don't see the frowned upon-ness of requesting a title. If there was a specific title I wanted, I would ask for it without worrying about what y'all thought.

Sooo...are you saying you want your personal title (and everyone else's) reset to Daedalian? Or are you saying newer members should be content with Icarian + Daedalian, but current personal titles can be retained?
