Reflection Maze

You are trapped inside of a house of mirrors now. Moving around appears to be impossible on the glass floor; the smallest step causes you to slide until-- crash --you hit another wall. Is there a pattern to the madness or at least a way to minimize the bone breaking slides? Leaving this room is just a matter of being where your reflection should be.

After posting this puzzle, I learned that shortest route was not what I had intended. I believe it is missing just one wall. The bonus part of this puzzle is to find the longer route, show where the missing wall could be, and maybe even explain why the longer route is what I sought.
