Seven Cities of Maple

Dr. Grant grins at you from behind his desk. Without a word, he hands you a thin photo album and a sheet of paper.

The paper asks you to label the unmarked map (shown below) with the names of the seven major cities. It explains that the map is of the land of Maple, where Dr. Grant spent his last vacation. Maple has 15 cities in a 5x3 grid. The solid lines are roads. Each road, from one city to another, is 1 mile long.

The photo album contains pictures of road signs. There is one picture from each of the major seven cities. The road signs indicate the shortest road distance from the city the picture was taken in to the cities indicated on the sign.

Dr. Grant coughs. "One of the cities, you see, was named after my uncle, Mr. Function," he says.
